Free Music Notes for Canciones De Mi PadreFree Music Review: Linda Ronstadt "es siempre maravillosa"! Hit: 5 Stars
Since my wife is Colombian, I am in the process of learning to speak and understand Spanish. I have ALWAYS loved to listen to Linda and had, for a long time, wanted to get this CD. As expected, I WAS NOT DISAPPOINTED! Her voice and range are absolutely wonderful for singing Spanish music. Because her enunciation is so good on the CD I find that I can actually understand much of the lyrics even though my Spanish is very limited. I loved the entire CD. My wife has even held the cell phone in front of a speaker for her mother to hear some of the songs.
Free Music Review: What A Voice Hit: 5 Stars
My Parents really enjoyed this particulay album when it came out a few years ago. This past month, we celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary and this CD was played throughout the grand party - bringing sweet memories and tears of rememberance to both parents eyes and their childrens eyes. Being that Mom is of hispanic heritage and dad's deep appreciation of that culture - that adds up to my love of this type of music. This CD is a treasure that will provide memories forever.
Free Music Review: The True Spirit of Mexican Music Hit: 5 Stars
Even though Linda Ronstadt is not bilingual, you'd never know it from this album. She truly has inherited the spirit of Mexican music from her father. I prefer her version of "Por un amor" to Lucha Reyes' and that's saying a lot! She has the passionate intensity of Lola Beltran, but with her own unique style. And she has the voice to carry off the huapangos. Her rendition of "Rogaciano" is gorgeous. I love this CD! Muchisimas gracias, Linda.
Free Music Review: Excellente Hit: 5 Stars
Linda Ronstadt is very known in their English songs and in this recording she prove her passion for this music. She has the voice and the the style. The orchestra is one of the best mariachis groups. The recording is very good. The minor issue is that her accent is not 100% mexican. It does not matter; each Country in Latinamerica has a different accent.
I will recommend also her DVD with the same group. It is a good show.
Free Music Review: Essence of Mexico Hit: 5 Stars
Linda Ronstadt does an excellent job in capturing the essence of Mexico. Being of partial Mexican origin myself, and having traveled south of the border many times; I could see in my mind images of Old Mexico...very traditional and very outstanding.
Other Spanish language artists used for comparison: Lola Betran, Nat "King" Cole, Nana Mouskouri, Vinciente Fernandez, Juan Gabriel, Ana Gabriel.
