I did not know that Linda Ronstadt was Hispanic until I heard this CD. Her papa was definitely a Mariachi, it shows in her singing. I like his Spanish CDs better than her English ones.
I am so glad that I found this CD. I hope that she continues to do more songs in the Mariachi style. I'm glad that she was able to go back to her ethnic roots. This is a wonderful, beautiful CD.

I LOVE this CD! I have a variety of Mexican music on CD, and this is one of favorites. Linda Ronstadt's voice has the power, passion and excellence for this genre. This woman can sing ANYTHING and make it sound easy to be strong, beautiful, and full of life. Other Ronstadt family members are listed on the insert as playing/singing on this CD as well. I recently had the pleasure of watching an HBO-like interview of Latinos in the making. Linda Ronstadt herself admitted that this particular album was her favorite. It is one that sat close to home and reconnected her with her roots. Classic songs - stellar voice - timeless rendition.
I first heard this on my dad's 45. Finally bought him a CD of it. I adore this album!

Songs of pain and reflection, with a pure clear voice that's a joy to experience. Ronstadt pays excellent tribute to the world of Mexican music. Ronstadt was considered one of the world's best singers in the authoritative book ''Billboard Guide to Tejano and regional Mexican Music,'' and this CD is proof of that. Great stuff, highly addictive.
