Free Music Notes for Dedicated to the One I LoveFree Music Review: Every New Parent Should Own This CD Hit: 5 StarsThe wonderful arrangements of popular songs delivered as lullabys are truly magical on this collection. Linda's voice soothes like nothing else and all three of our children have rocked gently to sleep as her melodic tones drifted overhead. I have sent this CD to countless friends on the birth of their children with a note telling them its a sure fire way to quiet any child. From the sweet tones of Be My Baby, to the surprisingly relaxing "We Will Rock You" - Linda surprises, delights and brings peace to all who listen.
Free Music Review: spectacular Hit: 5 StarsThese are all wonderful songs--for both children, babies, and parents, by a beautiful voice. Soothing, glorious, inspiring. Her version of "We Will Rock You" is one of the reasons I wanted to buy it! It is amazing. I feel rocked as much as the children! I recommend it to everyone--new parents, old parents, or even just for yourself. I play it over and over again!
Free Music Review: I never use the word Genius Hit: 5 StarsSo I won't use it here;, but if I did, I would. To take classic rock songs and turn them into lullabies seems, at the face of it, a ridiculous exercise in novelty. Linda Ronstadt not only does it, but she carries it off. These are songs for parent and baby -- nothing less and a whole lot more. Linda Ronstadt has found new layers of nuance and meaning and beauty in songs that I never suspected of being more than driving rock anthems. This is a surprise of Ronstadt fans (and some are clearly more pleasantly surprised than others). I was simply swept off my ears by "Dedicated". By the way, I played it for a friend, and she has now purchased it for every baby shower she has attended over the last several years.
Free Music Review: I give it four stars, but not five Hit: 4 StarsThe reason? Linda makes one of the rare mistakes of her career by turning Queen's "We Will Rock You" into a lullaby chant. Unfortunately, that rare mistake is a really sad one; it may have been meant for a child, but for me it only managed to show a contempt for the classic rock audience she used to court.I was, however, able to find poignant solace in her song "Winter Light" (taken from her unfairly ignored 1993 album of the same name), and the Brahms Lullaby, done with Aaron Neville. The other songs, including "Be My Baby" and "Angel Baby", work as well. All in all, DEDICATED TO THE ONE I LOVE is an imperfect album--but I suppose I'm being unduly harsh. I still like Linda a lot.
Free Music Review: My 2-month old baby started smiling!! Hit: 5 StarsI have a 2 month old son who has done almost nothing but cry and scream, due to being colicky. After I got the CD, I popped it into the CD Player in his room and we listened to it. I had tears in my eyes and he started smiling! We listened to the whole CD and he never stopped throughout. Recently I have bought another CD with the sound of a heartbeat in the background, that was supposedly clinically proven to stop babies from crying. It didn't work at all. I had already given up hope, until we listened to this CD. Thank you, thank you, thank you Linda!!I find this CD to be very soothing for both adults and children!
