Free Music Notes for Dedicated to the One I LoveFree Music Review: Horrible Hit: 1 StarsMy mother in law give us this disc when we had our first child. It's sappy crap that should have never seen the light of day. Every original is scores better than this synthesized crap. Especially laughable is the a capella lullaby version of Queen's "We Will Rock You."
Free Music Review: Works like a charm!!! Hit: 5 StarsI used this cd when I taught daycare for 12 yrs. and I never had a child stay awake. It works like a charm. And I actually am buying it again now that I am having my own. Love it!!! It relaxes me too.
Free Music Review: Not Just for Kids Hit: 5 StarsI've given this lullaby tape to all new parents and everyone feels the same way I do--it's just not for kids. Relaxing, fun, and sweet. I've even used it for relaxation exercises at work and people have commented on how refreshing it is--I love it.
Free Music Review: A Different Ronstadt Than We've Known Hit: 5 StarsThroughout her long career, Linda Ronstadt has cultivated an image as a tough, independent woman who can't and won't be tied down by domesticity. I don't know if there are any pertinent biographical details behind this foray into a kinder, gentler Ronstadt, but the results are stunningly beautiful.
Most reviewers see this album as an attempt to convert mostly "baby" themed rock classics from a romantic to a lullaby format, and many are repulsed by the effort. Whatever Ronstadt's intent, I think these songs work as soft, etherial, sexy, and romantic reworkings of the originals, most of which have long been firm favorites of mine.
The arrangements are brilliant, Ronstadt's singing has never been better, and I thoroughly disagree with reviewers who see this as saccharine, sickly sweet, and over the top. The only misfire is "We Will Rock You," which - even in Ronstadt's brief, muted version - doesn't mesh very well with the rest of the material.
The album may have been conceived as a collection of lullabyes for infants and children, but it works wonderfully as a sweet, sexy, feminine voice for this middle-aged man to listen to at the end of a long day.
Free Music Review: singing lullabies to baby Hit: 5 StarsThis CD is wonderful for singing your little one to sleep. It has a calming effect on your soul when you are up with a fussy baby, and works like a charm. These are sweet, old, songs with a new loving charm.
