Free Music Review: A great CD!!!
Hit: 5 Stars

We received this as a gift when my daughter was born. We put it on for her every night when she goes to bed. We have been doing that for 5 years and 9 months now!!!!

This is such a good CD for getting a child down at night. And heck, it helps get me down at night too!!!

When this first came out, the MSRP was a lot higher. Now at this price, how can you refuse. A great, great purchase for new parents!!!

Free Music Review: Soothing and beautifully done
Hit: 5 Stars

This joyous CD is a collection of lullabies for babies. Linda Ronstadt's beautifully melodic voice is just perfect for this, producing eleven great lullabies with just the right sound. What makes this CD most interesting is that most of the tunes are rock-and-roll classics, which have been beautifully redone.

Overall I thought this is a wonderful CD, soothing and beautifully done with great singing and instrumental backup. The only song that didn't translate well was We Are the Champions, which is the only "off" song on this whole album. But, other than that this CD is great!

Singing old, familiar songs as lullabies was something that my wife and I both did, and this album raises it to an art form. As a matter of fact, the CD paperwork contains the words to the songs, which means that you can learn to sing along, while you rock your little one to sleep. This is a great CD, a great gift for any new parents.

Free Music Review: soothing and nostalgic
Hit: 5 Stars

I think if you listen to this album as a Ronstadt fan you might be disappointed. Especially if you don't have kids. But, as a parent, you will like it, even if you don't like her music. There are many 50's songs that are beautiful as lullabys. The music is pleasantly familiar and soothing. I would highly recommend it to new parents. This album is not the saccarin-sweet stuff you get with many baby oriented albums. My CD is worn out and I'm buying two just in case it goes out of production.

Free Music Review: only so-so
Hit: 2 Stars

I bought this CD on the recommendation of my sister-in-law, who said it worked like a charm to help my niece fall asleep. I expected to like it, since I like Linda Ronstadt and I like soft slow music. But I didn't, and it didn't seem to help my baby fall asleep. Your mileage may vary, of course.

Free Music Review: A Horrifying Disappointment
Hit: 1 Stars

Thanks to her efforts as collected in her first greatest hits album and especially her two Trio albums and two ranchera albums, I regarded Linda Ronstadt as one of the U.S.'s greatest living singers. Having listened to this album, I find myself, to my dismay as a musician and a fan, having to reconsider that regard. Imagine a Hallmark-sponsored collaboration between Enya and Fisher Price, and you have this horrifyingly disappointing album. Linda's voice is processed to make it sound as though it had been generated by some sort of new-age baby toy; her voice is an octave higher, eerily shallow, tinny, and without her trademark vibrato, and supported throughout by a higher-pitched, whining backup singer. The instrumentation is almost completely synthesized. In short, classic songs such as the title track are utterly bastardized. I have a three-month-old son whom I was hoping to delight with the CD, but I will trash this CD and continue playing Mas Canciones for him. I don't know why Linda made this album. I suppose that all musicians make mistakes; I only hope that Linda considers this album to have been just such a mistake.
