Free Music Review: Best Linkin Park album out there...
Hit: 5 Stars

Approaching the release date of Linkin Park's sophomore album I'll admit a die-hard fan such as me even had my doubts about repeating the spectacular debut in Hybrid Theory and the success it became. It earned them many more fans and introduced a unique style in which they blend a touch of hip-hop with hard rock. But I was surprised when I first heard this album of just how amazing this band really is. In my opinion, it not only equaled Hybrid, but is better. They have become more mature lyrically and all songs are held with deep meaning within those words that people can really relate to with songs such as Easier to Run and Numb. Just like Hybrid Theory, there isn't a bad song on the album.

1. Foreword: Only 13 seconds of pounding to introduce the album's first song "Don't Stay"

2. Don't Stay: This is a great hard rock song that'll get your adrenaline pumping rite off the bat. The bass in this song is probably the most intense and best in any LP song. 9/10

3. Somewhere I Belong: First single off Meteora, has that very much "Linkin Park" sound to it and is about finding yourself in life. Great song to kick off the new album. 10/10

4. Lying From You: First taste of the hip-hop rock genre fans are used to seeing from LP. Again, they do it rite and the song comes out really good. 9/10

5. Hit the Floor: Kinda song you wouldn't ever expect, with hip-hop verses and a slamming hard rock chorus filled with intense screaming to the core. It's decent but there are much better songs. 7/10

6. Easier To Run: In my opinion, this is one of the most powerful songs lyrically on Meteora. I can't describe it, you need to hear it to get the real feeling but it's about escaping pain from your past and how to deal with it. 9/10

7. Faint: Second single which starts off with some strings that work great with the song. I love the chorus in this which climaxes at the bridge where Chester gets into some more of his heavy yelling. I would say probably the most popular song on the cd...and for good reason. 10/10

8. Figure.09: More hip-hop verses with singing chorus with rock music as the background. Nothing more to say about it except it comes out awesome. 9/10

9. Breaking the Habit: Just for those of you who don't know..6 years in the making for the finished product of this song. The vocals are unbelievable that are sang by Chester with the deep meaningful lyrics written by Mike about turning your life around by breaking a serious habit someone has. All this to a tune of a some-16 piece live orchestra featuring a piano and strings. Very unique song, most people appreciate it. 8/10

10. From the Inside: Excellent keyboarding by Joe Hahn starts off the song about being lied to and not being able to trust anyone after being deceived. Song progessively gets into more yelling as it goes on with a concluding repeated, "I won't trust myself with you!!" 9/10

11. Nobody's Listening: Song is different from the rest of this album. This proves LP is into trying new things, as this track features a rare japenese flute as it's background beat to compliment Mike's dark rhymes about pain. 8/10

12. Session: Cure for the Itch Part 2...Hahn once again goes to work on those turntables and creates a sick track just like on Hybrid.

13. Numb: The final track on Meteora reaches back to the rock feeling, only this is a deep song with a slower style. Absolutely impossible not to like, it's my favorite Linkin Park song. It relates to the idea of when your little people envision you as what they want you to become in life and to meet their expectations of you. So it's about finding your own self of what you want to become. The bridge in this song is outstanding, it gives me goosebumps when I hear it. 11/10

Free Music Review: Realistic Unbiased Review. Period
Hit: 5 Stars

1.Foreward - n/a - just a very simple intro. I would've preferred something more interesting then this, but it's good.
2.Don't Stay - 4/5 - A heavy track. Also a great starting point for the album. Simple and heavy. Nothing to complicated. Great for repeat listening.
3.Somewhere I Belong- 4/5- I was skeptical of this song when I first heard it before any other meteora songs. The most you listen to this song the more you like it. It might feel pretty bland at first but it just requires you to listen to it more.
4.Lying From You-4/5- Another Heavy track. Interesting Guitar work. the track feels poppier , p.o.d-esque, but the vocals in the chorus are great. the weakness of this song is in the verses.
5.Hit the Floor-5/5-Heavy and Aggresive but with great ambience. the best way to expierence this song is with a headset. because with a stereo you can only really feel the rock edge. the verses have a great eerieness with good soundsamples. and good rhyme-work.
6.Easier to Run-3/5-Slow-paced LP track. You could say it's Meteora's answer to 'crawling'. Great Chorus. A slow song in a super fast time.
7.Faint-4/5-the most interesting part of this song is defintely the symphony work. Energetic/fast-pased song. Great verses and a great mood for this track.
8.Figure.09-3/5-Every song on the album is good, but there's always one that you don't enjoy as much as the others. and this is that song. Starts with an interesting sound for an intro then moves onto a very simple , almost bland song. awesome bridge though. it's a great song but kinda doesn't match expectations.
9.Breaking the Habit-5/5-There isn't another LP track like this, and it makes it all the better. Probably the best track of the album. Simple lyrics sung in a great way. Great Symphony work on this aswell, but I was hoping they would have mixed the song so that the strings would be a bit louder.I don't really like but the guitar on this track, but It's easy to ignore. great fast beat. I was expecting a slow song but its fast and original. Great Climax. Defintely a sign that LP is evolving in song structure.
10.From the inside-5/5-A fairly different atmosphere then previous tracks. great heavyness and guitar work. awesome bridge. It would be great to hear a remixed version of this song live. Something within the lines of 'p5hngmeawy' . Great song.
11.Nobody's Listening-4/5-Interesting ambience in this song. great flute sounds. the beat is rather vague but still works great. awesome chorus work, it creates a whole new mood.
12.Session-5/5-My personal favorite of the album. Awesome sounds and ambience, in quite a short package. great manipulated beat. the piano and everything just really pushes this song great. Hopefully more of the techniques for making this instrumental will be incorporated into making new songs with vocals and such.
13.Numb-4/5-good finishing song. great vocals. not much to be said here.

On Meteora it feels like the hiphop side of LP kinda got decreased. the rapping wasn't as interesting as Hybrid Theory. While the sung vocals feel like they went way up. Songs like Lyingfromyou and figure.09 felt like they kinda held the album back, while breaking the habit totally redeemed it. After listening to this album about a thousand times, I'm defintely eager to hear the new material because I think it will probably be their best yet. the packaging for the album deserves credit aswell. awesome booklet with great pictures and artwork. enhanced cd with 'art of meteora' documentary is awesome. if you get the dvd version you get 'the making of meteora' which is great for more die-hard music fans. the packaging and music make this album , no-doubt an awesome follow-up album.

Free Music Review: AMAZING...
Hit: 5 Stars

Wow.

From the first few seconds of Don't Stay (Foreward isn't a song), you'll be hooked. Immediately you're immersed in the new Linkin Park sound; a much heavier, rougher, and ultimately more inspiring sound that reaches new heights and shows just how far this awesome band has come. Chester's voice reaches a new level of despair, pain, and eventually confidence. Mike's rapping sounds great as always... but the music just keeps getting better!

Next up is the hit single "Somewhere I Belong", which sounds the most like Hybrid Theory (LP's last album). It's a great song, with all the things that make LP great, but it's not too different. Still, it's good.

Next is Lying from You, which has the most memorable chorus I've heard in a long time... "You.... / I wanna be pushed aside / so let me go... let me take back my life, / I'd rather be / all alone / anywhere on my own / cause I can say / the very worst part of you / is me..." Simply put, this is Papercut for a new generation of fans!

Though Hit the Floor is certainly no less of a song talentwise, I'm just not particularly fond of it. Too rappy, is all.

However, everything is pushed aside when you hear the unbelievable opening to Easier to Run.. easily Linkin Park's most chillingly brilliant opening ever. An amazing song!

Next is Faint, which is the most unique song on the album. This is something new, different, and completely awesome. Dance beat + guitar = cool.

Then... Figure.09... which absolutely rocks my world. If this was the end of the album, Figure.09 would be one of the best songs Linkin Park had ever done. As it is, it's one of my top three favorites... this one is worth the CD alone!

Breaking the Habit: Chester singing alone; he does it extremely well. This is another truly great song, about truly important issues (suicide in this case). The chorus reminds me of anime theme songs for some reason...

From the Inside: Instant classic. Definitely a Linkin Park hit; possibly a classic song of 2003. This will live on for years, as Crawling has. "TAKE / everything / FROM THE INSIDE / and THROW it ALL away..." Whoah. Again, this is worth the price of admission :)

Nobody's Listening: my least favorite, because I'm not too fond of that much rap, but it's GOOD rap. I have much more respect for Mike's skills after hearing this track.

Session: instrumental, but a damn cool one. Much better than Cure for the Itch. Just makes you want to groove!

And finally... we arrive at Numb. Simply put, Numb is one of the best songs I have ever heard. It is epic. It is a masterpiece. It is what we all knew Linkin Park was capable of. From the opening, with the Shakuhachi, you'll see why it's so powerful. Every second of it is just awe-inspiring. I just got chills when I first heard it... this song is UNBELIEVABLE. The chorus just hits me so hard...

Buy this CD. If you liked Hybrid Theory, you will not BELIEVE how good Meteora is. It's so good that even though I downloaded the leaked tracks early I went out to buy it the day it came out--this is a work truly worthy of purchase. The only downsides are that it is short and may have more rap than some fans are used to... but you can't claim the album is bad--it's seriously one of the best complete albums I've heard in a long, long time, and although some may claim that it doesn't reach the peak of In the End or Crawling, songs like Numb, Don't Stay and Figure.09 actually (in my opinion) go so much further than Hybrid Theory ever did in showing the depth of human experience. Meteora is an album for changed times; an album that shows so much compassion, so much heart, and so much pain.. it will take you on the biggest rollercoaster ride of your life!

Free Music Review: Another Classic Linkin Park Album
Hit: 5 Stars

Meteora is Linkin Park's sophomore album and the follow-up to the multi-platinum album Hybrid Theory. And like Hybrid Theory, any Linkin Park fan owes it to themselves to pick up this album. If you enjoyed Hybrid Theory, chances are you will enjoy Meteora as well.

The one thing that stands out about the CD is that is sounds a lot different than Hybrid Theory. Meteora is the evolution of Linkin Park. They've put together an album that sets itself apart from Hybrid Theory, instead of just being a tad bit better but sounding the same. A lot of themes appear throughout the album, such as acoustic samples and even some piano and violin. But don't worry: the album still rocks above everything else.

Here's a rundown of the songs:

Foreword - nifty little intro that goes right into the first song. Can't really rate it, since it's not a song lol

Don't Stay - This song could be described as an evolution of One Step Closer. A really hard-hitting rock song from start to finish, with some nice scratching from Mr. Hahn. (5 out of 5)

Somewhere I Belong - Meteora's top single and one of my favorites off the album. A very different sounding song than what LP's done in the past, probably due to the acoustic sampling. Some classic lyrics from both Mike and Chester. (5 out of 5)

Lying From You - This song begins with some nifty violin sampling. A really heavy song with some catchy lyrics. (5 out of 5)

Hit The Floor - Another one of those songs that sounds really different from Hybrid Theory, but in a good way. Not a favorite but it's a pretty tight song though. (4 out of 5)

Easier To Run - Kinda like Hit The Floor, it's not a favorite but not a bad song either. Very thoughtful lyrics in this one. (4 out of 5)

Faint - This song rocks. Very fast-paced song with catchy violin sampling and killer guitar. Definitely one of my favorites. (5 out of 5)

Figure.09 - Another hard-hitting rock song, with excellent rapping from Mike. Nice DJ work too. (5 out of 5)

Breaking The Habit - This song is a very unique song, mainly due to the violin players in the background. Very soothing song with light guitar combined with some DJ mixing from Mr. Hahn. Great singing from Chester. (5 out of 5)

From The Inside - Kinda similar to Somewhere I Belong. One of my favorites. Both Chester and Mike are awesome on this song. (5 out of 5)

Nobody's Listening - This track shares a lot of similarities to High Voltage off Hybrid theory (special edition) in the fact that it's pretty much a straight-up hip hop track. I love the Japanese flute sample, it makes this song stand out a lot. Great rhymes from Mike, accompanied by Chester singing in the refrain. (5 out of 5)

Session - Some people will recognize this track from The Matrix Reloaded soundtrack. Like Cure For The Itch on Hybrid Theory, Session is an instrumental track with no words. Put together mainly by Mike with some added touches from the rest of the band. No words, but it's a pretty tight track. (5 out of 5)

Numb - Probably my favorite song off Meteora. Great piano from Mike, and some soulful singing from Chester. (It's the Soulful Chaz!) This song rocks, pure and simple. (5 out of 5)

Like I said about Hybrid Theory, this is one of those CDs that all Linkin Park fans should have in their collection. If you don't have it, get it! You'll treasure it forever.

Free Music Review: Linkin Park Raises the Bar of Perfection Even Higher
Hit: 5 Stars

This album simply defies the laws of music. Hybrid Theory proved to be an incredible debut album, and somehow, Linkin Park has followed it with an album of even more incredible sound. Meteora bears a resemblance to Hybrid Theory in some of the song structure, but when you break down the album song by song, you can see why Meteora is vastly superior to its predecessor.

1. Foreward: This track is merely a 13 second intro, but the beat blends perfectly into the second track.
2. Don't Stay: 9/10 alone; 10/10 with Forward intro. This song proves to have some similarities with One Step Closer, but the song is refined to an extraordinary amount. The layers of multiple sound make this song one of the best on the CD.
3. Somewhere I Belong: 10/10. The first single, Somewhere I Belong, is a standout on the album. It contains much more melody and lyrical poetry than any of the songs on Hybrid Theory except for In the End (That song is God). Somewhere I Belong is a clear sign of LP's foreward progression.
4. Lying From You: 10/10. This song is a perfect blend of the three elements that make up LP: Rock, Hip-Hop, and Electronica. The song has an electronic bounce with a hip-hop beat, and Brad chimes in typically incredible guitar riffs. Amazing!
5. Hit the Floor: 7/10. Not a bad song, but the sound seems relatively underdeveloped compared to the first three. Reguardless, it is not nearly bad enough to hinder the album.
6: Easier to Run: 8/10. Another standout track, Easier to Run, is very melodic and harmonious. It is fitted with somewhat of a dark feeling that makes the entire song unique.
7: Faint: 10/10. Anoth single, Faint, is arguably the best song on the album. The pace is fast, the rap is swift, and the chorus is elevating. This song is essentially a perfect alternative rock song.
8: Figure .09: 8/10. This track is quite good, but, like Hit the Floor, this song seems somewhat underdeveloped. It still sounds good, but it can't compete with some of the other songs on the album.
9: Breaking the Habit: 10/10. Any and all knowledge of Linkin Park's initial sound should be thrown out the window before listening to this incredible song. It simply blows listeners away with its excellent lyrics and profound melody. This song is perhaps the most intriguing song on Meteora.
10: From the Inside: 7/10. My least favorite song, From the Inside, just lacks melody to me. It may possess good lyrics, but other parts just don't flow properly.
11: Nobody's Listening: 10/10. This song is pretty sweet. It uses a flute for the base sound, and Mike's signature rap just carries this song. Chester's addition in the chorus doesn't hurt either.
12: Session: 9/10. An incredible instrumental, Session, may not be as good as Cure for the Itch, but it has a certain dark atmosphere to it that makes it very listenable and almost danceable.
13: Numb: 10/10. I don't see how anyone could dislike this song. It has such intricate melody and great vocals. This is great song to use for the conclusion.

All in all, this is a must for all: LP fans, modern rock lovers, and music lovers. This album runs at a tight 36:41, but you will listen to this album dozens of times. I sure have. Besides, it's quality, not quantity. This album is a perfect 36:41, and the songs flow smoothly from one track to another. Purchase of this CD is not just recommended, it is demanded!
