Free Music Notes for MeteoraFree Music Review: A Decent Sophmore Album Hit: 5 Stars
Alright...to start off, to everyone who says that Linkin Park sold out with their remix album, take a step back and calm down now. Theres a lot of buzz about this album being 'just linkin park', I'm hearing a lot, online, and in the 'real world' about how the album isn't going to be good because LP lost their touch, and that their tired of the same old LP stuff...while grab a copy of Meteora, sit down, listen, and be content. Meteora is a nice dose of adrenaline and soul, in one compact package, displaying everything dedicated Linkin Park fans have been waiting for. The lyrics, are just as good as the lyrics were the first time again, complete with adolecent angst, depression, and love. The songs still have all the same elements - IE screaming, rap, Joe Hahn scrathing up from behind the scenes, and of course, an interstrumental track. The album is exactly what LP fans want. Heres a quick run down of the album : Foreward : A quick, 13 second track that basically intrigues the listener into listening. The sound of a hammer opens the track, and it leads right into the backround beats and bass riff of the second track. 10/10 Don't Stay : Reminds me of 'Crawling' and 'Runaway', from Hybrid. 8/10. Somewhere I Belong : The first single, kinda slow. My personal least favorite on the album. 6/10 Lying From You : The intro to this song is excellent, and the rest of the song is the same. 9/10 Hit The Floor : Loud bass and guitar riffs open this. Good sound quality too it. Mike sounds great in rap on this, solid, like 'Place For My Head' on Hybrid. 8/10 Easier To Run : Nice and original. One of the best songs on the cd. 9/10. Faint : A flute opens this, but somehow, the soft flute, bass, beat boxes, rap, and screeching vocals fit into it. 8/10. Figure.09 : Constant tension in this album. I don't like the way it progresses, but I foresee it will be bigger. It reminds me of 'Crawling' and 'One Step Closer', with a little 'In The End'. 8/10 Breaking The Habit : My favorite on the song. Mellow, loud, rap, all together. I really like it, it flows nicely, and flows with the rest of the album. I think it will be a hit. 10/10 From The Inside : I dunno what to say...except I don't like it all that much. It's decent, not a sucker, but I'm not fond of it. 7/10 Nobody's Listening : Another flute opened song that fits, nice dj work on the track. A little too rappy sounding to me. 8/10. Session : Nice DJ session, complete with Hahn style scratching. Great follow up to Cure for the Itch. 10/10. Numb : I dunno if Breaking The Habit, or this song is higher on my list. I'm really fond of it. I like it a lot. 10/10. For those of you keeping a track, thats 101/130...a C+. Not so bad when you consider I give most albums D's and E's. Maybe not quite the album Hybrid Theory was, but still a monumental accomplishment for Linkin Park. This one is at least worth downloading and burning, or borrowing from a friend. Don't listen to the buzz, Meteora is worth the...bucks you'll pay for it.

Free Music Review: Meteora is not HT Part II Hit: 5 Stars
Meteora is not Hybrid Theory Part II. Sure the sound is similar but that's only because Linkin Park chose to remain true to a sound that they've made uniquely their own. Honestly, how many bands completely redefine their sound for every album they come out with. In it's own right, Meteora is a great album that has received mixed reviews only because of comparisons to HT. Although lyrically, it does pale in comparison to HT, sonically Meteora has achieved a maturity in it's blending of the rap with the melodic and it's experimentation with new sounds for the samples. Overall, when you listen to the album as a whole, it has a completely different feel to it. Here's my breakdown of the tracks. . . 1) Foreword: New from anything in HT. Blends seamlessly into the first song. Great intro to the album. 2) Don't Stay: Has been compared to One Step Closer. Has similar song structure but otherwise different. Very heavy song. Good energetic start but not the best song on the album. (6/10) 3) Somewhere I Belong: The first single. Has been compared to In The End. Again similar structure but different. The introduction to this song alone earns it a (9/10). Amazing. 4) Lying from You: The exchange between the rapping and the singing in this song is exceptional. It's not at all formulaic and the best we've heard thus far. The guitar riff for the chorus is great. One of my favorites. (10/10) 5) Hit the Floor: New hip hop sound for the band. Shinoda experimentation in sing-song rapping style was a success. The screaming part was Chester at his best and it kept the song from being too hip hop. The song has a very edgy feel to it. (10/10) 6) Easier to Run: The layering of the rapping with the singing was great in this song. Catchy chorus. (8/10) 7) Faint: Second Single. This is unlike anything they've done before in the past. The drums on this song were amazing. Rapping is fast paced and infectious. Screaming is one of the best. (10/10) 8) Figure .09: The chorus for the song catchy. OK song but doesn't really stand out. (7/10) 9) Breaking the Habit: In this song along with faint, the group experimented with a 10 piece string orchestra... And it sounds beautiful. The samples for this song sets the stage for the urgency of the song well.(8/10) 10)From the Inside: By far, my favorite song on the album. They've really achieved the epic feel that they were striving for with this song. Interplay between rapping and singing is also very well done. (10/10) 11)Nobody's Listening: Experimentation with japanese flute. More hip hop oriented. Thumbs up for trying. (5/10) 12)Session: This song owns Cure for the Itch. Best electronica/mixing I've heard from them yet. (10/10) 13)Numb: Third single. Pretty song but doesn't really stand out. (7/10) Overall, this album is a must buy. The only complaint that I have is that it's a little on the short side clocking in at under 40 minutes. But, that's nothing new for Linkin Park. And I'd rather have quality over quantity any day.
Free Music Review: Beyond Perfection...Side by Side with Hybrid Theory Hit: 5 Stars
I still can't decide which album is better, Meteora or Hybrid Theory. Linkin Park sounds more mature with the lyrics in Meteora and truly bring out the truth without using vague curses, likewise with Hybrid Theory yet they weren't as strong or out of the box with their first album. 01 Foreward- Sweet Intro, you can't tell the difference when this track slides into Don't Stay 02 Don't Stay- Awesome song, great bass, great lyrics, lets you know that there is alot of awesome things to look forward to on this CD 03 Somewhere I Belong- SWEET combination and a perfect for the first single, it tells about what some people feel at sokme point in there life, a song that I'll listen to for years to come 04 Lying From You- Hahn does an awesome job in this song and the beat goes along well with the words, all in all, great song 05 Hit The Floor- Interesting from the start, keeps you attached to the speakers, raps awesome with the background, goes along very well 06 Easier To Run- a slower, softer song(compared to the others) yet not dissapointing at all, something to hang around, chill, and just listen to 07 Faint- Overall, one of the best songs on the album, I'll listen to this song on repeat, it'll stick with you and its something to really jump too, the beat goes so well and Mike and Chester just fit so well with it 08 Figure.09- Fun song, pretty cool guitar and some neat drumming, Mike's rapping goes along very well, the rapping and screaming just fit... very cool song 09 Breaking The Habit- Another song similar to Easier To Run except more upbeat and driven, awesome song that Chester shows his somewhat quieter side on, not as much screaming but its a song you can't miss on the CD 10 From the Inside- The beggining is hooking, the cresendo sounds awesome and the background is cool, the lyrics flow with it and its another quieter song, but very cool still 11 Nobody's Listening- One of the best, right up there with Faint, sweet japanese flute, the beat and drumming...just..oogle over it and the Lyrics...oh the lyrics are very cool and easy to understand, this is a song I will play for a loooooong time on repeat 12 Session- Matches the album's sound and sounds very cool, a neat little song, everything goes well and this is just a very cool track I love to listen to 13 Numb- One of my very favorite on this album, emotional, hits you deep down and just sounds awesome, makes you want to sing along with it (which you can do, lyrics are easy) You just find yourself singing to it, Chester shows the softer side of his voice and Mike's voice just flows with Chester's, they match very well and Chester really blows you away with the changes he makes. This is and will be a great album to listen to for a long time, I can't wait until their next album, I encourage everyone to go out there and Buy Meteora, sweet cd, something to love for years to come, songs that anyone can relate to whether 12 or 40!
Free Music Review: Great Follow Up For A Great Band Hit: 5 Stars
Here's a review of every track: 1. Foreword - Not really a song but I love how it mixes into the next track. 9/10 2. Don't Stay - A song for the fans who prefer Chester. It's amazing how he goes from these soft tones to these crazy yells. Brad also happens to tear up the guitar. Great songto open up the album. 9/10 3. Somewhere I Belong - More on the softer side but still a good track. I really like how the intro was put together. Mike sounds pretty cool on the lyrical side of this, but Chester just doesn't pull through for me here. 8/10 4. Lying From You - Chester sounds much better here and Mike begins his lyrical tear up that will conquer most of the rest of the album. Liked it. 8.5/10 5. Hit The Floor - Awesome song. Chester and Mike are so [good] in the chorus and Mike's verses destroy. Brad's guitar sounds so cool here as well. 9.5/10 6. Easier To Run - I like to call this "Crawling: The Sequel". It's got that heavy sounding chorus with the light verses that defined Crawling. This is actually my least favorite because it seems very old and formulaic (if that's even a word). 6/10 7. Faint - One of my favorites on the album. Starts off with one of Rob's killer drum beats and leads to some very cool Mike-flows. Chester rules the chorus but it's nothing compared to how cool he is in the bridge which is enhanced by Brad's awesome guitar work. Everything just seems to fit. 10/10 8. Figure.09 - Another killer song. Sounds a lot like a faster and harder upgrade of By Myself. Once again, Brad's guitaring rules especially in conjunction with Mike and Chester during the bridge. 9.5/10 9. Breaking the Habit - My favorite song on the album and the most different song on the album. The song is more of a techno-acoustic song with light Chester vocals. Despite how boring that may sound it is actually a very killer journey through how high a song could bewhile being so low (if you even follow me there). Spectacular. 10/10 10. From The Inside - The verse is very reminiscent of Crawling except Mike's part is much cooler. The bridge is another example of how well Brad's guitar can work so well with Chester's yelling. 9/10 11. Nobody's Listening - Think Linkin Parkish Wu-Tang. The Japanese flute that plays throughout the song is the perfect sound for the song wich pretty much belong to Mike busting out some pretty phat rhymes. 9.5/10 12. Session - Ahhh...the time comes for Mr. Joe Hahn to see what he can do. It's the CD's Cure For The Itch and trust me, it rules. More of an asian feel if you ask me and the software he uses really enhance how cool this instrumental sounds. 9/10 13. Numb - Great way to end the album. Chester's light vocals leave you in a kind of dream state. This is genuinely a good song because of how good Chester can hold it. 9/10There it is. Go get it. I'll live up to your standards. An evolution in an already great band.
