Free Music Notes for Meteora

Free Music Review: The best...
Hit: 5 Stars

Loved it. Absolutely loved it. Meteora is one of LP's finest works, with the slight exception of Easier to Run. Solid bass, unique treble leads and warm pickup mid's, coupled with various orchestral instruments and their own personal vocalizations give Linkin Park's musical heart a steady, strong pulse. Combine that with soft vocals and harshly toned screaming, and this is right up there with my other favorite bands like Korn and Evanescence. However, though certainly not an issue, the contributions and idolizations of other bands and groups is clearly apparent. Although Easier to Run was rather boring and not true to the album, it sufficed enough to get me though to the next song. The Foreward track was ingenius and smart, using heavy singular sounds to ramp into Don't Stay, one of the heaviest tracks on the album. All in all, this could not have been a better choice for my various and differential musical tastes. 5 stars.

Free Music Review: Could have been better
Hit: 2 Stars

Even though I don't like most nu-metal or rapcore, there are some bands out there that break the mediocre molds of both of these genres and catches my attention; Linkin Park is one of them. After listening to their debut album, Hybrid Theory, I soon became a fan of the band. About a year a later, Meteroa came out and I was ecstatic. A month or so later, I finally got a chance to listen to it and was soon disappointed. A gave it a few more tries but they didn't help much. The reason being is the lack of good individual songs. Many of the songs on here sound the same, or just no good. I think there was only four songs on the entire album that I liked compared to most of the tracks of their debut (I believe there was only one track I didn't like on it). Even so, I haven't totally given up on Linkin Park, as I really like their new cd, Minutes to Midnight. This cd just makes me sad because I know these guys can do better. Favorite tracks: Somewhere I Belong, Faint, Breaking The Habit, and Numb. That's it.

Free Music Review: Linkin Park is the best!
Hit: 5 Stars

Now, a friend told me about Linkin Park and I started liking Linkin Park because of the song In The End. Then I found Hybrid Theory in my Dad's CD collection and I listened to all the songs. So then I got more and more linkin park albums and now i have 5 of them.

Meteora is sort of like Hybrid Theory, yet different. Examples i think are: In The End and Somewhere I Belong or Crawling and Easier To Run. My favorites are Somewhere I Belong, Lying From You, Breaking The Habit, From The Inside, and Numb. For closing, I'd like to say that Linkin Park is the best!

Free Music Review: Angry Music For Teenagers, Basically
Hit: 2 Stars

Now, I am only 14. All around my school are people listening to Fall Out Boy, Simple Plan, emo and Limp Bizkit. I find that sad. Now because I am a teenager, people will think I automatically like all that stupid music. But no. And this is exactly the kind of music that those people listen to.

Mindless screaming and whining about how their life sucks and how they wanna commit suicide and how "you" ruined their life. Heh heh heh, exactly the kind of thing I'm talking about.

Now I don't automatically bash bands because they're played on the radio or they're mainstream. I like System of a Down, some Disturbed, some Slipknot, you know. Although I mostly like underground stuff such as Nile, God Forbid, Opeth, Satyricon and Fear Factory, I have some mainstream stuff in my collection. But I still don't watch MTV [with the exception of "Headbanger's Ball" on MTV2, that's an AWESOME show].

This is nu-metal. There is no denying it, they rap in every track and the lyrics even suggest they could be emo. But I'll stop talking and rate the tracks. I'll give you a piece of some of their "great" "sad" lyrics for some of the tracks.

1) Foreword: Who the crap cares?
2) Don't Stay: Starts off with off-tune vocals and teen angst screaming. "Forget our memories/forget our possibilities/what you were changing me into/give me myself back and don't stay." WOW. 3/10
3) Somewhere I Belong: Turntables and talk about how he doesn't belong anywhere. :( Oh no I feel so bad for the whiny rich kid. 4/10
4) Lying From You: Almost a rap start, but this track is kinda loud. If that rapper singing the verses would just go away, it would almost be almost good.
5/10
5) Hit The Floor: Actually one of the better tracks on here.
8/10
6) Easier To Run: Horrible in every way possible. 1/10
7) Faint: In 2003, you couldn't go around 10 minutes without hearing this or "Numb" on the radio. This was actually Okay, "Numb" however was bad. 6/10
8) Figure.09: Oh wow, I just noticed there were notes in the little booklet. "This song originally had rapping in the verses, then was rewritten with singing verses during the process at NRG." Who the hell cares? 4/10
9) Breaking The Habit: Oh, now the rich kid is like drugged up or something. Just bad. 2/10
10) From The Inside: More turntabling? It seems like people would be tired of that by now. Horrible vocals. 2/10
11) Nobody's Listening: The most rappy song on here. It's okay, but teen angst vocals, turntables and that horrible white rapper man just kinda ruins it. 5/10
12) Session: Hey look an instrumental! Nothing terribly special. 4/10
13) Numb: No. Just no. Now you're trying to be melodic. It doesn't work. Stop trying. No. No. "Tired of being what you want me to be/ Feeling so faithless/ Lost under the surface/ I don't know what you're expecting of me/ Put under the pressure/ Of walking in your shoes." JUST BAD. 2/10

No way would I recommend this to anyone that doesn't want to hear some rich white men trying to rap. It almost reminded me of the Beastie Boys, only the Beastie Boys were actually sort of good in the day.

I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS ALBUM. HOWEVER, IF YOU FEEL LIKE DOWNLOADING A COUPLE OF TRACKS FROM THE ALBUM, FEEL FREE TO DOWNLOAD:
"Hit The Floor" and "Faint"

Final Verdict: Teen angst lyrics mixed with whiny vocals, turntables and rapping. A disgrace to rock, basically. A few songs save it and it's not the worst CD I've ever listened to, so...
3.5 out of 10: No. Don't buy it. Just a little better than a 3, and not quite a 4.

Hit: 4 Stars

I like almost every kind of rock and this CD is very good. Some of the songs seem to be similar in ways, but they are all very good. I like Numb and Faint the best
