Free Music Notes for Minutes to MidnightFree Music Review: Disappoints Hit: 1 StarsSay what you want about Linkin Park, but don't say they are consistent. While this is definitely within the realm of the sound of Linkin Park, it does nothing to move them forward in the direction that MADE them as popular as they are. They have moved away from the angst, the energy seems to have left them. I am not against bands experimenting with their sound, and trying new things, however, if they want to remain 'successful' they need to not entirely leave what got them there.
There are far too many ballads, and not enough of that raw emotion that forced them to the top of the charts.
If you don't mind the lighter side of Linkin Park, then you'll have no problems with the album, and by all means buy it, however, if your looking for more of the hard, emo rock, and raw emotion of the earlier albums, you WILL be disappointed!
Free Music Review: Disappointing Hit: 2 StarsI wasn't a Linkin Park fan at all when One Step Closer was released as a single. My roommate played Hybrid Theory so much, though, I started to really dig them. When Meteora came out and I heard Faint on the radio, I went out and purchased the album the next day. I listened to it for 6 months straight in my car. I couldn't wait for Minutes to Midnight. Over 4 years went by before it came out, so I expected something amazing. Maybe that's why I hate it. It doesn't hit with me on any level like the other two (especially Meteora) did. It's just way too soft to be called Linkin Park.
Free Music Review: The great bands evolve, and Linkin Park is one of them Hit: 5 StarsAll great bands evolve, and Linkin Park is no exception. Your average really good band has the same sound over and over again, some good enough where you don't even notice, but the truly great ones want to achieve more and are brave enough to do so. I love Hybrid Theory and Meteora, yet I can't get enough of this album either. Once you listen to it a couple times, you realize it's the same band, but they are giving you much more. This is the future of Linkin Park, and I'm glad. These guys have some serious guts. A few albums from now they evolve even further, and we fans who get it will keep eating it up. The Beatles did it, so did U2, Zeppelin, and numerous others... all the great bands keep moving forward. Thank god for Linkin Park.
Free Music Review: Aptly named album! Hit: 1 StarsYep, this is what I listen to to put myself to sleep "minutes to midnight"!
First off, let me say that I have supported Linkin Park from day one, and have all their records, EPs, and unreleased tracks.
Minutes to Midnight has NONE of what made LP awesome in the first and second time. On HT and Meteora, we had hard-hitting and amazing guitar work, edgy rap rock, Turntables galore, and awesome angsty lyrics that get a message across without using the F-bomb.
Well, This album has none of that.
First off, there are 3 songs that I like that I like. Given Up is a song that TRULY sounds like it would come from LP. A good punk beat, strong lyrics. What I've Done is another song you'd expect to hear out of this walk in the park, and In Pieces, a song which Mike sings.
The rest is filler.
Wake is a nice little intro, but that dosen't count due to the fact it's just an intro. Leave Out All The Rest sounds like some christian ballad rock anthem instead of something you'd hear out of LP. No More Sorrow sounds like some emo goth anthem for all the wristcutters out there. Valentine's Day is a depressing wet dream for emo kids and has all the ingredients: Poetic lyrics, slowed down beats, and all. The Little Things You Give Away is a acoustic number about Hurricane Katrina that goes on for 3 minutes longer it really needs to.
As for the sound, Why did they have to slow down? If I want this I'll buy a U2 or Postal Service record. And not only that, on their previous albums, they had lyrics that prove you can get the message of anger across without using the F-Bomb, now they just throw it all over the place.
Avoid this even if you're a fan!!!!
Free Music Review: i sware i bought the wrong cd... Hit: 2 Stars4 good songs, suprisingly sounding like their old stuff
the rapping has nothing to it like the old albums and they became big for what they do (did)
and that was absolutely brilliant rap metal
not some crappy bollocks playing with a keyboard and singing depressing meaningless songs
