Free Music Review: Reanimation...
Hit: 5 Stars

After two months it was the best-selling remix album ever. If it earns a platinum certification, it has to be good, right? And, to do this good with no 'original' material requires a lot of work. The ironic part is, this is original! Tracks 2 and 15 are the only songs that have NO addition of lyrics. Every other remixed track from Hybrid Theory or the EP have added lyrics. For example, some songs like ENTH E ND, WTH>YOU, and PPr:Kut have rappers that add a verse to the song. Songs like Pu5hng Me A*wy, Frg/10, and Krwling have totally warped their songs. Frg/10 only has the chorus and a few words of the verse that are similar to the Hybrid Theory version. Krwling added Staind's Aaron Lewis and the song featured Phoenix on violin and cello.

Here is some more food for thought. Remix albums are very hard to create. You need to make a song sound good when you are working with material that has already been perfected and analyzed. NOW you need to come up with something different FOLLOWING the ideas of the original song. I think Linkin Park did a great job 'reinterpreting' their songs! Not to mention the great artwork! Keep it up!

ATTENTION>>>>>>> Linkin Park's new album (title yet to be released) is in stores in March 2003! And Hybrid Theory fans are in luck.

Mike Shinoda - "The new album sounds more like Hybrid Theory than Reanimation. I think the samples are cooler, the guitars are nice and heavy, and some of the stuff rob is playing is very exciting too."

Linkin Park - Reanimation
Review By: Mike P

Reanimation is a remix of the 2000 blockbuster release "Hybrid Theory." The rock band reworks the tracks from the previous album into a rock/hip-hop collaboration with help from stars across the industry, including Jonathan Davis from Korn, Kutmasta Kurt, and The X-Ecutioners.

This CD gives fans of not only rock but also hip-hop a chance to get a taste of what each genre has to offer. Although the group uses them, instruments are not what make their music so addictive. They put much thought and time into their beats and come up with brilliant tunes. Also, their beats don't always repeat as the song goes on. Sometimes, the beat is ever-changing and you will never hear the same rhythm twice. What makes this CD different from other remake-type albums is that they actually rename their songs using the names from the previous album, and modifying them. For example, the hit song "Papercut," is renamed "PPr:Kut." This is one example of their originality and creativity.

This album chops up each song with new lyrics from the guest artists, which makes for more than just a remix. You get a new perspective from artists other that just the title group, and this helps reinterpret the old and new album. This is a promising album which the group shows off not only its musical talent, but also its creativity and originality.

Linkin Park's new CD, Reanimation, is fantastic. However, to compare it to Hybrid Theory (HT) is impossible. I have both. Personally I think everyone should. You can't buy one or the other: they complement eachother like you can't believe.
The best part of the new CD is the song collection.
Enth E Nd (In The End) was one of the best tracks on HT, but it has been reworked and made into a totally rocking new tune. REVISED
By_Myslf (By Myself) was (I think) a weaker song on HT, but Josh Abraham and Mike Shinoda combine to make a new background beat that really improves the song. IMPROVED
P5hng Me A*Wy (Pushing Me Away) almost seems as if Linkin Park threw out the old song and made a new one. This beat is just like a new one, but the traces of the original are catchy and unmistakable. REANIMATED

Get both CDs. I think Reanimation is better, but I can't see anyone enjoying it without having heard the originals first. If you are the type of person who reads a sequel before the first book, consider buying this. If you only read from the beginning (like me) get both. If you already have Hybrid Theory, GET THIS ALBUM.

It is without a doubt as new an album as Hybrid Theory, and don't be concerned that it will be a waste because it will be repetetive. It isn't. This is fantastic effort, and well worth 5 stars. Even the jewel case is cool!

FIVE STARS. OUTSTANDING.

Free Music Review: Bigger, darker and meaner, Hybrid Theory is back...
Hit: 5 Stars

I liked 'Hybrid Theory' a lot. When I heard that 'Reanimation' was merely 'HT' remixed, I was extremely sad, as I had been looking forward to a follow-up album.
Then I heard 'Reanimation.'
And realized it's a new breed of Linkin Park.
Completely sliced, diced and blended through high-tech mixing equipment and resung by many of rock and hip-hops top dogs, 'Reanimation' is a darker, meaner, more idustrial look at the pop-ish 'HT.' While some of the songs stick fairly close to their roots ('Points of Authority' and 'With You' spring to mind), others take entirely new paths, and 'In The End,' you've got an almost entirely new spin on Linkin Park's music that is well worth the price of admission. 'My December', 'One Step Closer', 'Crawling' and 'Runaway' stand out as the cream of the crop, while 'In The End' almost seems ruined in its new hip-hop style. However, fans of Linkin Park will appreciate the refreshed style, even if it is the same music. So if you're looking for a 'Cure For the Itch,' 'Reanimation' is just what the doctor ordered.
NOTE: 'My December' alone is possibly the best remix in the history of music. Never before have I heard a track remixed somehow maintain ALL of the best elements of the original, and yet gain something even more with the remix. Be sure to check it out.
