Free Music Notes for Reanimation (Dig)Free Music Review: Split Nicely, Combined Perfectly Hit: 5 Stars
LP's done it again. They've released another disc that totally rules. I wouldn't say that I'm a rap fan, but Linkin Park makes rap sound good.
They seem to have split the album into halves. The first half is the rapper's side, and the second half is the rocker's side. The first half has a mostly rap feel to it, but has heavy guitars with it to keep it from going all-out rap. The music is awesome in FRGT/10, as it accents the lyrics very well and makes it the most awesome rap song that I've heard since "Come With Me". They use the same tactics in the other rap songs, aswell. The [RIFF RAFF] cuts the halves nicely; it makes it very easy to cross from rap to rock.
On the rock side (second half), they focus more on heavy funk/rock phrases and wicked beats to keep the album rollin'. Songs like 'BY MYSLF' and '1STP KLOSR' are very heavy tunes that can easily become the favorite for us metal fans out there. Jon Davis doesn't blow his top in 1STP KLOSR (Like he does in most KoRn songs), and actually sounds like he belongs in it. KRWLNG is a good cool-down song, and makes you want to hit the loop button.
If there is any problems with it, it would be 'ENTH E ND'. It doesn't really appeal to me, because it is pure rap. But that's just me.
As a bonus, the PTS.OF.ATHRTY video on the CD-ROM part of the CD is wicked awesome. Be sure to have Quicktime so you can watch it!
Overall, this is probably my favorite LP album. It has a pretty psychadelic feel to it, which keeps you awake and listening. All the songs are very different, which is a plus. I say, buy it. Buy it now.
Free Music Review: It's got a lot Hybrid Theory didn't. Hit: 5 Stars
Hybrid Theory was, in the opinion of most, an excellent album, and was certainly a financially successful one, especially considering it was the first serious recording venture made by the California band. The songs were usually bitter, often sorrowful, but seldom really angry in the dark, Nine Inch Nails sense of the word. NIN and bands like it have demonstrated that you don't have to be loud to be bitter and brooding, and Linkin Park has embraced this theory in Reanimation. By and large, the tracks on Reanimation are much quieter than their Hybrid Theory counterparts, but they are much darker. The effect complements the original album very well. The remixes themselves are very masterfully done, most notably 'Enth E End' (the almost jazzy new piano sample will catch your attention right away) and 'Krwlng' (Staind's Aaron Lewis lends himself very well to the song). The remixes of 'Place For My Head' and 'Pushing Me Away'--to which Korn's Jon Davis lends his considerable talents--and the previously unreleased track 'My December' are also well done. However, if you didn't care for Hybrid Theory, don't expect to enjoy Reanimation. Listening to the CD, I found myself preferring and disliking the same songs that I had when I got Hybrid Theory. Overall, though, it's certainly worth your money and an excellent CD to have, especially if it's to complement Hybrid Theory. Just as a brief aside, if nothing else go to a store and look at the back of the CD. You can have a little fun trying to decipher the twisted takes on the names of the original songs. 'Frg/10' gave me fits until I figured it out.
Free Music Review: Original Remix Album Hit: 5 Stars
Usually I tend to think that remix albums are very ... Consequently, when I learned that Linkin Park was releasing one I dreaded that it would be a failure like Limp Bizkit's. I also wasn't too fond with Pts of Athrty when I heard it. However, being the devoted LP fan I am, I got the cd on the first day and found myself surprised. No way is Reanimation like a normal J.Lo or Limp Bizkit remix album...Linkin Park actually got talented, underground artists to reinterperate their songs...not the usual Thunderpuss remixers or Neptunes. The songs on Reanimation sound so different from the original versions on Hybrid Theory that it is amazing. Some of the new remixed versions of songs sound better than their original version ie. By Myself, With You, Runaway, and One Step Closer. The best songs are P5hng Me A*ay, WTH>You, KRWLING (its so melodic with aaron lewis), MY<DSMBR, By_MYSLF, and 1STP KLOSR. The only downpoints of the album are the interludes because they waste time. Also KYUR4 TH ICH turned out horribly in my opinion. It sound like a bunch of aliens flying in a spaceship. But I love Phoenix's cello and viola playing. Overall I like how Reanimation sounds like LP actually spent time and care with this album...most artists just hire ppl to remix and it sounds rushed aand uncared for. I think Linkin Park covers a lot of ground with this album more than Hybrid Theory because with Reanimation you can feel music genres of hip hop and rock really being mixed. I reccommend this album if you like hip hop and like to hear something different.
Free Music Review: Hmm Quote to that "GHETTO-IZED" Hit: 5 Stars
"All of the songs just sound like pure cacophony. The songs in their "reinterpreted" form are just plain useless. Lyrics are turned upside down, completely changed and overall, GHETTO-IZED!" For your information.. there's 20 tracks in that cd , 5 which are intro's, that leaves you with; 15 real songs.. out of the 15, only 1 ! is new "x-ecutioner style" that leaves you with exactly 14! Now... out of the 7 they were remix into rock, the other 7 into rap.. now that looks like a pretty balanced album... it just seems that since ENTH END got ghettoized the whole CD is ghettoized..but no It's equally balance.. think of it this way.. "Hybrid" Half the CD rock and the other half rap instead of having each song impleneted with rock and rap. Now you ask.. why did I give this CD a 5 star.. well I would like to say.. have you ever done remixing? Even try do remixing! I swear I call this CD like a DREAM , a clone and evil version of Hybrid Theory.. "Part 2's" of the original; a great example is P5hng Me A*wy <--> Pushing me away.. both mind blowers.. yet one has a stronger meaning than the other but the other one has a stronger riff than the other. I really like the Album I would have to give A+ 's to LINKIN PARK ! THEY DID ONE HECK OF A JOB FOR THIS CD! For Every linkin park fan out there.. this CD is worth buying.. just don't quickly judge because of Enth end .. if you don't like it then you just don't like the cd , but if you like it. you like it! but don't like it because it's to "ghettoized" ... Jeez
Free Music Review: This is not the second album! Hit: 5 Stars
This is a great CD made by and at the same time not made by Linkin Park. It includes artists like:Jonathan Davis(from Korn), Aaron Lewis(from Staind), and Chali 2NA(from Jurassic 5)just to name a few.Oh, and all you people that say that their second album is bad because it is just a remix album, I have some news for you THIS ISN'T THEIR SECOND ALBUM. Listen to this quote from the bass player of the band, Phoenix"...the remix album was a project that we did in between albums; not in lieu of a second, but in between the first and second. We wanted to explore the hip-hop, and electronic porions of our music, and at the same time work with some artists that we have respected and loved for a long time. Had we not done the remix album, the second studio album would not have been finished any sooner. We take a long time to write new songs... we are very picky, and we never want to do anything half-way. The beauty of Reanimation is that we were able to write and work on album 2 while it was being remixed by the remixers. If you don't like it, then you don't like it. Personally, I love it... I think it turned out great. And if you demand an album a year out of a band, then I'm sorry not to have met your required rate of production... but good things do come to those who wait." I'd also like to say that people who want another album don't have to wait very long. Linkin Park fans mark your calendars, because MARCH 25, 2003 the new and SECOND album Meteora comes out.
