Free Music Notes for Coming Home AlbumFree Music Review: The Master Is Back Hit: 5 StarsLionel Richie is probably one of the best singer/songwriters around. He has penned and sang so many #1 hits and Top 10 hits. He has won numerous Grammy's. Lionel was THE driving force of music in the late 70's and all through the 80's. Truly a genius.
He is bringing all that back with his latest effort: Coming Home.
Coming Home is a remarkable CD that takes Lionel's classic songwriting and puts it along side with some of todays heavy producers. This CD is not one bit overproduced. It's true R&B through and through, the way Lionel Richie had always been. His voice sounds as good as ever as a lot of voices do with age and it does not disappoint on this set. I feel todays music, even though they call themselves an "R&B artist", just are not. They lack the soul that comes with it. They are missing so many elements that makes good R&B music. The first single/hit: "I Call It Love" is a nice mid-tempo love song in true Richie fashion. A nice beat to it and the "love" lyrics that everyone has always associated him with throughout the last 3 decades. A great song. A song that I KNOW will put him back on the R&B map! "Sweet Vacation" is another good mid-tempo song in true Lionel style with a strong R&B flavor to it. A song everyone will enjoy. "Up All Night" is more of a up-tempo bumper that you could dance to in the clubs. It's a real fun song with very catchy and infectious lyrics. A very fun song! This song just makes you want to dance! "Outta My Head" sounds like a true Lionel Richie classic that you could just listen to over and over again. It reminds me of why I fell in love with his music to begin with. A masterpiece! "Reason To Believe" has a nice acoustic guitar in it and the vocals are superb. I love this song. Again, true R&B.
Every song on here is a stand out track. There in not one to be skipped over. As I said earlier in my review, this will put Lionel back in the R&B game. I would not be suprised if he surfaced in the mainstream. This CD is his best in years as he takes it back to his roots: the music we know and love him for.
Lionel has 'come home'!
