Free Music Review: One of the most impressive pieces of work ever produced

These musicians are simply the best of the best, they possess an immense amount of musical skill and talent that it makes me want to cry! They truly have unquestionable talents.
This album was recorded in less than a week, around 4-5 days, and that was what struck me the most, listening to huge diversity of melodies composed and the high level of musicianship involved, it's almost unreal and godlike.
It starts off with "Paradigm Shift", one of the main highlights of this album, with a guitar and drum intro so insane that it throws you out of this world (how can anyone play that fast?!), courtesy of guitarist John Petrucci and drummer Mike Portnoy. This song is an ongoing speed metalfest, the first few minutes are really hard, then it starts to slow down near the middle, then it picks up near the end.
"Osmosis" an improvised piece which would perfectly accompany a mother nature jungle scene, the perfect calmdown from the previous track.
"Kindred Spirits", my personal favorite on the album, is one of their most melodic pieces (LTE 1 and 2 included) ever composed. Emotional and beautiful, it brings me to tears when i'm in the right mood. This is the first song from LTE I recommend to anyone to listen to.
"The Stretch" and "Chris and Kevin's Excellent Adventure" are both improvised pieces as well, where bassist Tony Levin gets a chance to be in the spotlight. "The Stretch" features a creatively improvised keyboard solo by Jordan Rudess. "Chris and Kevin's Excellent Adventure" has Tony Levin's bass groove over Mike Portnoy's drum beat, it also demonstrates the humorous side of the band, with the vocal ad libs and whistles.
"Freedom of Speech" is a LTE ballad, clocking in at almost 10 minutes, this song posesses similar qualities to that of "Kindred Spirits", although much softer. An emotional piano intro draws you in to light guitars and drumming, brimming with melody and emotion, this will soon become a favorite.
"State Of Grace" is a slow and soft piano and guitar solo, meticulously composed and slowly builds into what sounds like an orchestral piece near the middle, shining with power and emotion that can bring you to tears the way "Kindred Spirits" does.
"Universal Mind" is another energetic piece with the members of the band jamming at full speed, with an intro that barely rivals that of Paradigm Shift. In my opinion, this is the most complex song on the album, with a lot of chromatic harmony involved, a piano solo in the middle and a circus-like ending.
"Three Minute Warning" is an amazing onslaught of completely 100% improved insanity, clocking in at 28 minutes, they have improvised this without any preparation, no discussion before hand and just dived straight into it. This is something no other musician can accomplish, the melodies just flowed out of their minds in this one, i doubt whether they're human or not.
This is a masterpiece, a gem that every aspiring musician should possess, if you do enjoy it, you will loving this cd for a long long time.
