Free Music Notes for A Place To LandFree Music Review: Consistently excellent Hit: 5 Stars
Little Big Town is phenomenal. Their material and performances are consistently excellent. Performers have to be pigeonholed in some category, and country is where LBT gets slotted, but we're not talking cowboy hats and pickup trucks here. This is just good old rock 'n roll, with only the faintest of twangs. And it just doesn't get much better than this.
Any one of the four members could be a big star on his or her own, but they have chosen instead to pack all of that talent into a tight harmony band, taking turns singing lead. That approach may make them less successful on the radio than a band that has one consistently recognizable voice out front, but it results in a mix of songs that you don't get tired of listening to.
I've gone to three of their concerts. At two, they were the opening act for a bigger name (Martina McBride, George Strait). In both cases, I went for LBT, not the headliner. In fact, I didn't even stay for George Strait's set. The third concert was all their own, so they had the space to really show what they're made of. That was one of the best concerts I've ever been to (up there with Springsteen and Garth).
I can't think of anybody else on the scene with such a high batting average of really good songs -- about four out of five, to my taste. Their earlier CD, "The Road to Here," had set the bar exceptionally high, so I was prepared for a letdown with "A Place to Land." But damned if it isn't even better. I can't wait to hear what they do next.
Free Music Review: LBT restores my faith in music!! Hit: 5 Stars
Having grown up listening to country but only liking rock and roll, I never expected to be head over heals for Little Big Town. They bring something fresh and new to today's music that is the perfect tapestry of lyrics, harmonies, melodies, and instumentation. I hear my younger days calling with glimpses of early Fleetwood Mac, the Eagles, and even Bad Company on their previous release.
As a Southerner, I have never found a voice or voices for that matter that accurately reflected my country music and 70's rock roots. That was until LBT! They ARE the PERFECT FUSION!! I was blessed to see them in concert and they are awesome and love to connect with their audience.
Long live LBT and I give many thanks that they have bestowed upon us their beautiful, harmonious, countryish, rockish, Eagle-ish, Fleetwood Mac-ish sound!
I hope one day they will put their version of "Go Your Own Way" like they do in concert sometimes and on Crossroads on CMT with Lindsay Buckingham.
I love you guys!!
Free Music Review: Country's best group does it again! Hit: 5 Stars
Okay, I admit it, I love Little Big Town. Ever since I saw them for the first time several years ago I have been a dedicated admirer. Their music is some of the best I've heard in a long time. "A Place to Land" is no different. From the title track to the singles "I'm With the Band" and "Fine Line" to the newer extra tracks the band is vocally superior and musically its pleasing on all levels. "A Place to Land" is fun, inspiring, touching and full of joy. The album is LBT's pure sound and fun attitude throughout. It's a fantastic album!
Free Music Review: BIG Little Big Town Hit: 5 Stars
Little Big Town opened for Keith Urban recently in Tacoma WA. The only song I knew was Boondocks, but LOVED the tight harmonies. So I purchased this CD days before the concert. WOW !!! Now I am a fan !!! This is a great listen. As I mentioned before, great 4 part harmony and an album you will want to play again and again. I now have their 2nd album as well, and am gonna purchase their 1st. Reading other reviews, I can see and hear why fans enjoy Little Big Town and I am now with the band !!!
