Free Music Review: Clean sound, but lack of energy
Hit: 3 Stars

I've heard a couple of officially-released live Doors performances that are pretty good: the two unedited performances The Doors live in Detroit and The Doors live in Philadelphia. The new set recorded in Pittsburgh is not on par with the others. The sound quality is fine but (and I think you'll notice this in even the first song), Jim seems to be on autopilot. He is doing everything right, but just not expending any more energy than he has to. The band seems to mirror his lack of energy. I'll be honest and say I didn't finish listening to the show. After the first few numbers I was worn out.

For those of you looking for better live Doors shows:

1. The Detroit show was, I believe, the longest show they ever played. They seem to be enjoying themselves and the energy is good throughout.

2. The show in Philadelphia has a couple of unusual selections, pretty good energy, and the way "Wake Up" leads into "Light My Fire" makes it one of my favorite Doors moments ever.

Free Music Review: I WAS THERE
Hit: 1 Stars

I was there and what a disappointment this concert was! Morrison had recently been busted in Miami and the lizard king was mo more. This concert was not the hearty macho poetic youthful self assertion one associates with Morrison, but an exhibition of drunken self indulgence that failed to impress even my 16 year old self, who was looking to be impressed. It began with an already somewhat drunken Morrison clumsily sauntering onstage with a bottle of brown liquor which he continually quaffed in a swinish manner. The concert proceded to spiral downward from there. The band tried to hold the show together but there was no stopping Morrison fom his progressive degeneration. I believe this concert is where my perception of rock heros being driven by tragic character flaws codified. We were young, we were high and we deserved better! I'd be interested in listening to this CD for the sake of recollection and review of my perceptions of the time, but certainly not as nostalgia or enjoyed memories. This concert was the last act before the epilogue: the hero of a greek tragedy after his fall.

Free Music Review: Recieved defective product.
Hit: 1 Stars

Product did not work on 3 different Mac's or Pro-Tascam CD player. Came at a time when I was very busy with my work and I didn't have the time to return it.
I refrained from buying this because I thought they were having product problems. When there was no warning I went ahead. I can access most of the show.
It's great but "Light My Fire" will not play properly. There are no scratches on disc. I believe this is a production problem. Beware of bogus product.
