Free Music Notes for Collideoscope

Free Music Review: A Masterpiece
Hit: 5 Stars

Even after a decade long hiatus, this band is still miles ahead of its so-called, competition. I had the distinct pleasure of meeting and chatting with Vernon Reid last summer after a Roots concert (he was their guest guitarist) and I had the chance to tell him how brilliant I thought "Collideoscope" was and that the masses seriously slept on this innovative suite of songs and sounds.
Every one of the 15 tracks here works and deepens with repeated listens, the closing remake of The Beatles "Tomorrow Never Knows" would have been embarrassing in a lesser bands hands, but it works to stunning effect as part of an ambient instrumental that concludes the project. All of the band members are in terrific form throughout and contrary to popular consensus, the production is not muddy or impenetrable, but very bass heavy and expansive. Perhaps someday the rest of the music world will catch up to Living Colour, but for now these guys still lead the pack.

Free Music Review: The Best is Back!!!
Hit: 5 Stars

It has been over 10 years between Stain and this CD...and it has been truly worth the wait!! Living Colour is a visionary band who changed the over-all perceptions of the "Black Rock Band". There have been others, but none as influential as LC. This CD is a true masterpiece from 4 guys who are known for breaking boundaries. From the steamroller "A? of When", pure power and furious melody, to the moving "Flying", a new sound in the LC arsenal. Doug and Will's drum and bass sound are upfront on this CD, much better than the techno shading on Stain. "In Your Name" is a great example of this. Vernon's playing is awsome, as always. Corey's singing is better than ever. The only fault of this CD, in my humble opinion, is the cover of "Back in Black", but I'm not a AC/DC fan. Please, do yourself a favor and buy this CD, you will not be disappointed.

Free Music Review: A trully great album
Hit: 5 Stars

This has got to be the best come back album ever. normally comeback albums aren't all that but this...WOW

I'm very pleased with this album. it takes about 3 listens to get the vibe. There are a lot of sounds in the record and extra bit keep on popping up.

I feel that this is there best album after vivid. Personally I didn't like stain that much.

There is no messing about with this album it's strain into the songs, the record get better as you go along

Flying and Nightmare city are the best tracks but all the other are all better then most of the bands out there these days.

Living Colour say alot on this album about the worlds current situation and I love all that, You will never ever find a record that sounds like this one.

I say if you don't know them go and check LC live they are easy one of the best live rock bands ever,

And enjoy because this record rocks

Free Music Review: AWESOME AND UNDERRATED
Hit: 5 Stars

I don't understand why alot of people had a problem with this record. It was Living Colour. It had all those Living Colour traits that we love with a little bit more to offer. They were very experimental on this album with synth's and drum machines and what not but it worked really well. L.C is always great at cover songs. The two on this record work really well. Flying is hand's down one of the best L.C songs ever that is as beautiful as it is haunting. So overall very underrated and to heck with all you haters. Living Colour made a solid record. Their first one in 10 years to boot and like always they gave you Living Colour by always playing what they want, how they want keeping a signature sound yet never once replicating it. Gotta love these guys.

Free Music Review: solid, direct, immediate, engaged
Hit: 5 Stars

once again living colour manage to distill the feeling of an era (now) into compact, intense songs that express a lot. the music here seems very effective, no wasted effort, no doodling: crisp, clear, focused, very present, and both angry and vulnerable, no affecting some pose of self righteousness or knowing-it-all.

the hooks are very accessible, they grab you from the first song, and the album is solid all the way through. i thought stain was uneven: some of it was great, other parts lost me. collideoscope never loses me, i find it engaging all the way through.

if you like living colour, i highly recommend you check this out.
