Free Music Notes for CollideoscopeFree Music Review: The Best after 10 Years Hit: 5 Stars
As a long time Living Colour fan, I think this is their best album. The production, vocals, lyrics and instrumentation are astounding. Vernon Reid, Doug Wimbish and Will Calhoun are better than ever and Corey's vocals are amazing. The lyrics are as thought provoking as ever, and I like that. Most love songs make me cringe personally, but I love Jazz / Rock Fusion. With Living Colour, you get the best of both worlds. Great lyrics awesome rock / metal. My personal favorites: Sacred Ground and Choices Mash Up / Happy Shopper. Keep on rockin' fellas!-H. Wolfe III
Free Music Review: Living Colour continues to collide ideas Hit: 5 Stars
It was worth 10 years for...it has a little bit of everything, but its coherent. The reggae to hard rock of "Nighmare City" has hints of Bad Brains, the cover of the Beatles' "Tomorrow Never Knows" might even surpass the original, the playing is super tight, the songs well crafted. The only medicore parts are the campy version of "Back in Black" and the almost too-indie "Operation Mind Control". This is a great live band (one of the best) that is finally getting closer to their live sound on record.
Free Music Review: A Truly Welcome Return Hit: 5 Stars
It's been 10 long years since Living Colour's last full-length studio album, and Collideoscope was certainly worth the wait. The songs are powerful and emotional, many of them dealing with life in a post-9/11 world (if the lyrics to Flying don't move you, you may want to do some literal soul-searching). Fans of intelligent song-writing and talented musicianship will want to pick this up ASAP. The rest of you can be content with the latest disaster from Lumpy Bisquick or whatever Fred Durst's "band" is called...
Free Music Review: ... And See Them Live! Hit: 5 Stars
I've listened to this album about 5 times and from beginning to end I think this is their most provocative album. The first 5 tracks form one of the strongest messages I've ever heard. Nightmare City, Lost Halo and Holy Roller are the heart of this album. The ending is spine-tingling. However, if you really want to experience Living Colour, make sure to see them in concert - their songs are always evolving and they are four of the best musicians you will ever see.
