Free Music Review: Stained Class
Hit: 4 Stars

Metallica and Alice in Chains apart, Living Colour are about as heavy as I like it. These black American dudes groove on like George Clinton with a metallic core and the attitude of the non-conformist. The best moments are the melodic muscle of 'Leave It Alone', the playful swing of 'Bi', which makes a serious point on the subject of people who like it both ways, or the ghostly 'Nothingness' described by one reviewer as Terence Trent Darby sings Genesis, but don't let that put you off. Elsewhere there's the restless urgency of 'Never Satisfied'. And if your head's at weirdsville, try the warped urban techno of 'WTFF' or the surreal sample heavy 'Hemp'. 'Stain' is more intriguing than gut feeling enjoyable. So, it's flawed, but that fits in with the band's philosophy - people in glass houses shouldn't throw stones.

Free Music Review: A Chaotic Musical Venture
Hit: 4 Stars

This particular album was probably their most whacked out, chaotic, bizarre musical masterpiece out of their entire discography. At times a full blitzkrieg of insrtumental assault to the senses thanks largely to the part of the guitar genuis Vernon Reid, who I think should be considered a future Rock-n-Roll hall of famer. Not their most stable work, but I really liked the direction they were heading. Had Living Colour remained together, there would have been a totally different outlook at music today! It was terribly heart-breaking the day they broke up, but they certainly went out with the "take no prisoners" mentality with this one!! Get this album if your a fan of riveting and influential type music!!!

Free Music Review: Stain is a good living Colour album
Hit: 4 Stars

This album always gets overlooked for some reason. Especially as it's always compared to 'Vivid'. That was a great album as well as 'Time's Up' but Stain should be judged on it's own merits. It has one of the best rock songs of all time in my opinion in the form of 'Ignorance is Bliss'. Whilst Veron Reid and his cohorts are undoubtebly talented, Corey Glover is also a fine fine vocalist. His soulful voice really is uplifting and he can growl and shout with the best of 'em. The good thing about these guys is that they possess a fine sense of humor as well as demonstrated on 'Bi'

Free Music Review: HEAVY
Hit: 4 Stars

This is Living Colour's heaviest and darkest album yet. They still manage to work this new sound into an awesome album.
It's a shame they broke up. Will Calhoun is a very impressive drummer, Vernon Reid is one of the fastest and most talented guitarists in music, both Muzz Skillings and Doug Wimbish were great on bass, and Corey Glover is one of the most talented vocalists in music.
Lucky for us music fans, they recently got back together.

Pay special attention to Go Away, Ignorance is Bliss, Auslander, and Nothingness.

Enjoy.

Free Music Review: this album rocks
Hit: 4 Stars

there are some downright dirty and nasty guitar licks here("I'll never be satisfied"), some serious riffage(track 6, I forget the song name), some humor("bi"), and some ambience("nothingness"). This is probably their best work. There is some experimentation with loops, and programming, but that doesn't take away from the hard edge. The last song, "The Wall" starts out a normal song, but then gets all chaotic. It's really crazy, but its good stuff.
