I first learned about The Secret (aka the Law of Attraction)when I watched the DVD at a friend's house. Yes it was a bit 'Hollywood' in its delivery but I was definitely attracted to its messages. Feeling good about yourself, others and your world had to be the right way to go. The idea of positive thinking and focusing on things that are working for you made so much sense. So for a while I walked around intentionally focusing on things that made me feel good. And it worked. But staying consciously in this frame of mind takes hard work. After a week or so, I found myself 'slipping.' Someone would say something to me that was rude and I would get upset for hours and replay the conversation in my mind over and over. Part of me knew I was sending negative vibrations out there,but I didn't know what to do. Other times I negatively would focus on my problematic finances and weight issues. Too many years of thinking this way was not going to change over night because I watched a DVD. I wanted it to work but didn't know how to make it work.
So I purchased the Living The Secret Workbook and found what I needed. I had read a number of books but it was this one with its interactive component that made a difference. The exercises and techniques were invaluable- they kept me on track. I learned that yes, I can control my thinking and let go of the negative and limiting thoughts I grew up with.
It showed me how to regain my conscious state and not live in my old
'unconscious world' on auto-pilot. I learned gratitude and appreciation. The writing in the journal at the end of the book was such an incredible experience to look forward to each night.
I know this is a long way to get to the review of the CD but it is necessary because the CD ended up being the 'icing-on-the-cake'. When my friend gave me a copy I couldn't wait to listen to it and I wasn't surprised. These two products have been life-changing for me. What was most helpful about the CD, was the wealth of information stated in simple terms. It beautifully summarizes and reiterates all the principles and techniques while taking you through a meditation,deep breathing and wonderful affirmations. Hearing this daily just solidifies it in my brain. Otherwise it is so easy to forget and yes resist.
I choose to meditate on any of the four meditations or all if I have time. My favorite tracks are the gratitude and The Secret affirmation tracks. I even find myself saying the mantra throughout the day:
"I am a powerful creator
I can be, do or have anything I want.
All I have to do is choose those positive thoughts that make me feel good.
I focus on what I want, what I appreciate, what I am thankful for.
My feelings will guide me to create positive thoughts and release all negativity from my mind.
These positive thoughts will bring more positive thoughts, experiences, and people into my life, transforming my desires into my physical reality."
There is not a time after listening that I don't feel a sense of relief. I've even taken to listening in my car (no I don't meditate) to keep me on track and remind me of the need to live this way every minute of the day.
Unlike other reviewers,I liked the simplicity of the production. I have been exposed to other CDS that are so dramatic and overproduced that for me it overshadows the messages. The music is soothing and calming as the messages take center stage. I don't hear pages turning or breathing- maybe because I'm too busy meditating. The first few times I was so relaxed that I fell asleep. The most important thing for me is that the content is outstanding:it explains the LOA; helps your embrace and retain the principles as you go through its wonderful affirmations and takes you through a guided meditation. I take daily from this CD what makes sense to me. It is my time to relax, clear my head, affirm, and embrace joy and it works!
