Free Music Notes for Time to Say GoodbyeFree Music Review: If you've never heard anything better, this sounds good Hit: 1 StarsI liked this CD for a little while when I didn't know of any singers that could sing better than her. She sounds okay on songs that are written for her because they make her voice sound less breathy and thin. Her voice is "sweet" but very thin. I have heard singers who have pretty voices that aren't so dramatic and full of vibrato as some of the other reviewers complain of opera singers. Rebecca Luker Dawn Upshaw (And she's a true opera singer) Hayley WestenraAnd if you think this is real classical singing or even anywhere close to classical singing listen to any decent Soprano over 16 who is classically trained and you will be amazed and how much better they are than her.
Free Music Review: Great cd Hit: 5 StarsThis tends to be the Cd that I like the best of sarah's.But then again I only have three of her CD's.I love all of the songs even the opera one's and I am not really a big fan of opera but I love classical music.
Free Music Review: An assault on nature Hit: 1 StarsI know virtually nothing about Sarah Brightman and have only heard one track on this record. That listening has left me so apopletic, however, that I am moved to submit this rant. Why-oh-why did Brightman feel the need to cover Naturaleza Muerta by Spanish pop genuises Mecano. Singing over a nearly identical arrangment to the original, she attempts to give the song an identical reading. Since she's not apparantly fluent in Spanish, her ham-handed (tongued?) pronunciation wreaks havoc with this fragily beautiful melody. For heaven's sakes, if you're going to cover something, and you aren't constrained by the requirements of pleasing a Vegas lounge audience, do something with it -- interpret it.
Free Music Review: Different from her last couple of albums but I like it Hit: 5 StarsI was at the library yesterday to pick up some tax forms and decided to peruse the cd selection. I came across Sarah Brightman's "Time to Say Goodbye". Being the fan that I am, I checked it out along with a few other cds. I personally enjoyed "Time to Say Goodbye" a lot. I will say that I preferred the solo version of the first track which is found on "Classics". Although I have already heard some of the songs on the cd from Sarah's greatest hits cd (available as an import) and "Classics", I loved what I heard. I was particularly moved by the gorgeous ballad "No One Like You". Compared to her more recent albums ("Harem" and "La Luna"), the music on "Time to Say Goodbye" is more classical than the modern classical/pop sounds I have heard on "Harem" and "La Luna". Nevertheless Sarah sounds absolutely incredible on this cd. Another favorite song of mine is "In Pace" which really showcases Sarah's talents as a singer. I can hear the opera influences in her voice. "There For Me" is another fabulous song. I loved Sarah's delicate vocals. Other than the title track, I really enjoyed all of the songs on "Time to Say Goodbye". People expecting another "Eden" or "La Luna" might be disappointed in this album given that Sarah is singing with the London Symphony Orchestra therefore has a more classical repetoire. Brightman fans who are a bit more open-minded will certainly enjoy this cd (I hope). I know I did.
Free Music Review: Hmmm... I Don't Get It Hit: 2 StarsI enjoy Sarah just as much as anyone else, but I don't get why this album is considered her BIG album. All the songs on here are EXTREMELY slow-paced, and the only one noteworthy is the live bonus track performance of "O Mio Babbino Caro", but you can get that with "Classics." "Harem", "La Luna", "Dive", and "Eden" were MUCH better.
