Free Music Notes for Long Road Out of EdenFree Music Review: New Eagles - People what we're you expecting? Hit: 5 Stars
First off I'm 55 - saw the Eagles a couple of times in the 70's. I was really excited to see a NEW MATERIAL from let's face it - one of the BEST AMERICAN BANDS ever.
It's Christmas afternoon, my wife got it for me, it's my first listen.
Oh sure, the EAGLES are rich, mostly obnoxious slobs with huge EGO's and all but C"MON - this is WONDERFUL new music - they STILL got it!
But, the reviews are weird - I see too political - "Henley's always been Political" - dentist office music - "uh remember Best of my Love" - "Tequilla Sunrise" - I even saw they sound too much like the 'old Eagles - "well who should they sound like? The SEX PISTOLS?"
People - be happy this happen - if you ever even remotely liked the Eagles you must feel uplifted that you can hear these voices with new material again .
C'mon were'nt you getting a little tired of playing all the old stuff?
Thanks Don, Glenn, Timothy & Joe and Merry Christmas!
Free Music Review: good cd ,well worth it Hit: 5 Stars
im not thrilled about the whole wallmart thing but if you are a fan this is worth it.the EAGLES harmonies are all intact. The songs are well written
they have the sounds of classic EAGLE tunes as well as solo HENLEY,WALSH
and FREY.Stand out songs are HOW LONG,NO MORE CLOUDY DAYS,DO SOMETHING(TIMOTHY B. SCHMIT on vocals)on disc one.Disc two opens with the title track LONG ROAD OUT OF EDEN which is a really good song but its over 10
minutes long.I DREAMED THERE WAS NO WAR an instumental track written by
GLENN FREY which is simply beautiful.SOMEBODY another good FREY SONG.JOE WALSH has a song called LAST GOOD TIME IN TOWN which so like WALSH fantastic as he can be.Overall this cd is well rounded with COUNTRY,ROCK,POP even FOLK.Its not HOTEL CALIFORNIA by any measure but for guys that have been around as long as these guys, you really can't expect much more.As the EAGLES go I always preferred DON HENLEY even solo wise. But this cd it's GLENN FREY who shines brightly.
Free Music Review: Long time coming, but worth the wait. Hit: 5 Stars
The greatest band of all times is back, and at times better than ever. With each member a star in their own right, the combination is awesome. They take four incredible voices, add four part harmony, fantastic music, and the Eagle magic. I like the first cd better than the second, but CD 2 is growing on me as well. They start CD 1 with four part harmony, then take turns with lead vocals for the balance of songs. I could not possibly pick a favorite but Busy Being Fabulous, Waiting in the Weeds, and Do Something really stand out. Guilty of the Crime with Walsh is sassy and cool, but will probably not be a single. Timothy Schmidt is awesome on all of his songs. What I really love about this album is that ALL of the Eagles take a turn, it is just not the Henley/Frye show (although you do not get any better than either of them). Even with trading off lead vocals, the music and harmony is still pure Eagles. This album is truly a collaboration, and very well done.
Free Music Review: A necessary purchase if you are an Eagles fan and want to complete your collection Hit: 5 Stars
There are 20 tracks on the standard edition of this album and 22 tracks on the deluxe edition, making this Eagles album a good value as compared to some CD albums having fewer than 10 songs. Long Road Out Of Eden is probably one of the better produced Eagles albums in terms of sound quality, it does sound very good on a home stereo or in a car. If you are an Eagles fan, you won't feel as if there are only 1 or 2 good songs on this 2-CD album. If you're not such a big fan of the Eagles you will not be missing out on much if you don't purchase this album. The songs on this album are not the same kind or type of songs as the 1970s Eagles classics are (Hotel California, etc). I recommend this Eagles album to Eagles fans, I recommend another Eagles CD "Hell Freezes Over" if you want to get someone an Eagles gift for their music collection.
Free Music Review: Brilliant return from a legendary band Hit: 5 Stars
This was way more than I expected, both in terms of quantity and quality. 20 new songs from a band that hadn't released a full-length studio album in 28 years was a surprise, for sure. Even more surprising is just how many of these tracks I absolutely love. From their early country rock days ("How Long") to their amazing balladry ("Do Something") to Joe Walsh-led rock masterpieces ("Last Good Time in Town"), all forms are represented and brilliantly so. The 10-minute title track that leads off disk two is an example of the band adding something new to the mix as well. For sure, the overall mix is top-notch. This band has always been about grade A musicianship, and on this album every note is played and sung perfectly. The sheer simplicity of certain melodies is pure genius. Clearly, these guys haven't lost it musically after all these years. This one stands up to their legendary stuff from the 1970s. Well done!!
