Free Music Review: Cure For The Common Noise
Hit: 5 Stars

I was a senior in high school when I feverishly waited for Pegasus Records in Bountiful, Utah to place "The Long Run" on the shelf. I was the first of my friends to have a listen to this wonderful work. There is a contagious genius in those tracks; addicting just like "Hotel California." For 28 years I have waited to reconnect with the Eagles.

After first listen, those 28 years have melted away, and I now feel there is a continuum in the Universe. The stories go on; introspective questions are posed; with seductive vocals and riffs from Joe, nothing has been lost to age, and production is top notch.

Just the title cut alone is worth the amazingly reasonable price of admission. Did I mention that Joe's guitar work here is haunting.

Congratulations for self publication.

It is damn good!

Free Music Review: Listen More Than Once
Hit: 5 Stars

Most of the bad reviews I read for this album are written by people with short attention spans that listened to the album one time and panned it. Well, if you are expecting the same old thing from the Eagles, you might be disappointed, at first. But, if you listen more than once, you will discover that this could be the best album they have ever created. These songs are more mature, with song structures that show real growth. The harmonies are exquisite, and the lyrics are as good as anything the group has ever done. I'll admit that the first time I listened, I wasn't so impressed. Not as many hard rockers. But after repeat listenings, I began to hear the genius behind the songs. The songs blend in a homogenous whole that is exceptionally rewarding. The Eagles still have plenty to say, and they have created some great music here, to say it with.

Free Music Review: Bravo
Hit: 5 Stars

I was initially reluctant to purchase this new album, loving the old Eagles' albums so much. But I am extremely pleased with their new work. It retains the interesting instrumentals and gorgeous vocal harmonies of the earlier works, but with more mature and socially-conscious, even political, content. The Long Road Out of Eden track is stunning, both for its use of middle eastern instruments and melodies and for its thoughtful lyrics. The following instrumental track, I dreamed there was no war, was profoundly moving for the lushness of the instrumentation; it is a perfect complement to the earlier Long Road track. Other offerings are similarly reminiscent of the young Eagles, but, to me, much more interesting in terms of lyrics and equally enjoyable for the variety and musicality that I expected of this group. I could not be more pleased.

Free Music Review: It's Been Too Long...
Hit: 5 Stars

to hear an album filled with reassuring trademark harmonies, lush ballads, crisp rockers filled with biting lyrics that could only been done by the legendary classic-rock band The Eagles.(28 years at that!)I wasn't expecting any more than a competently done work, but these discs surpassed even my highest expectations. The highlights are the "Take It Easy"-like "How Long"(written in 1972 by J.D Souther),the Don Henley-sung pieces "Busy Being Fabulous" and "Waiting In The Weeds",the unaffected plea "Do Something",the 10-minute-plus social-poltical title track, the lovely if short instrumental "I Dreamed There Was No War",the mesmorisizing "Center Of The Universe" and the tense, driving "Somebody".Even the less-than-stellar tracks("Guilty Of The Crime" and "Fast Company")are listenable. If you're an Eagles fan,you won't be dissapointed with this release.

Free Music Review: It was worth the wait!
Hit: 5 Stars

The album would be an excellent value at the Wal-mart price - 2 CDs and 20 tunes - even if only half of the tracks were any good....but that's not the case here. After the first somewhat esoteric track, the second track, How Long, sets the pace and and by the end of the first CD, I'm just shaking my head at how a group of 50ish formerly drugged out 70s rockers can sound so smooth. By the end of the 2nd CD, I was just shaking. I wouldn't have thought the Eagles could have improved on their past successes but they have. Their smooth country rock sound, Don Henley's and Glen Frey's harmonies, Joe Walsh's licks, and Timothy Schmitt's added vocals and bottom make this one of the best Albums of the year. I'm sure after I play it enough, it will probably rank in my top 5 of all time. Get this album and enjoy!
