Free Music Review: PUNK SUPER-GROUP THAT OUT PERFORMS THEIR ORIGINAL BANDS

Sure The Damned were cool, and The Barracudas and The Dead Boys were alright...but NOTHING those bands ever put out amounts to what "The Lords" achieved.
Consider these guys as the "Green Day" of the early 80's. The punk elite; performing and writing great pop tracks, with enough snarl and hatred to keep their contemporaries at bay.
In a sense, "The Lords" were the first "alternative" punk group that achieved mild success...(sure, you can say Joy Division created the "proto-punk" style that would go on to make "The Killers" millionaires, but "The Lords of the New Church" were ANGRY, LOUD and PISSED OFF.) There is also the relevance in the Goth community regarding the image and lyrics of "The Lords" - but we'll save that for another review.
Mixing blues, keyboards, melody and Punk - these guys were way ahead of their time - and created some timeless tracks. (Just listen to the opening lyric of "Open your Eyes" - "Video Games train our kids for War..." and this was 1982...
Its a shame some of there albums haven't been re-released on CD (or even digitally)...these guys are just as relevant as The Ramones, The Misfits and the Sex Pistols.
