Free Music Review: Los Lonely Boys - Another reason the best music comes from TEXAS!
Hit: 5 Stars

I have everything they've put out on CD or DVD and can't get enough. I never miss a chance to see em' live! I'm lucky to live in Austin. We have some of the best local music thus giving us the name "Live Music Capital of the World".

What amazes me most is the ages of these brothers. Ringo the drummer is 22, JoJo the most incredible 6 string bass player I've ever seen is 24 and Henry, 26 makes his guitar magical. They write, sing, play and even change instruments in the middle of shows. Sometimes you don't even notice! Just take some SRV, add a little Carlos Santana and then some of their own unique blues style and gosh knows what we'll hear when they hit their 30's or 40's!! Buy the DVD Los Lonely Boys - Texican Style (Live from Austin)~! You won't regret it!!

I miss SRV, Arc Angels, Storyville and many other local bands that were cut short by tragedy or other reasons. If you get a chance, pick up some Vallejo. They are harder edged but incredible and my second favorite to LLB!! Also check out Pushmonkey and Podunk. If you step out of our borders, check out Indigenous. They are an awesome hard edged blues band as well.

Free Music Review: Los Lonely Boys - Fantastic Debut Album
Hit: 5 Stars

I first became aware of these guys when I happened to be flicking around channels on my TV one night and came upon them playing on Austin City Limits. I had no idea who they were, but I really enjoyed the show and went out and picked up this their debut album. Since that time Los Lonely Boys have vaulted to mainstream success with the big hit "Heaven" from this album. I like this album a lot. The band mixes blues, tight vocal harmonies, searing guitar, and a regional tex mex style that blends together to form a very nice conglomeration. The bands sound is definitely influenced by Santana and I hear plenty of Stevie Ray Vaughn as well. The songwriting is all good for the most part with the lyrics sung in both English and Spanish for various songs on the disc. The guys are very good musicians and there are plenty of instrumental fireworks to show off their chops throughout the album. The three members of Los Lonely Boys are all brothers and they come by their pedigree honestly as their father was also a well respected Texas musician. The boys are a bright light on the current music scene and I recommend this album highly.

Free Music Review: Los Lonely Boys Take You To Heaven
Hit: 5 Stars

Los Lonely Boys is made of the three Garza brothers, guitarist Henry, bassist Jojo and drummer Ringo. They hail from San Angelo, Texas and their music is rooted in their home state. Drawing from artists all over the musical map like Willie Nelson, Doug Sahm, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Richie Valens, Los Lobos, The Beatles and every one in between, the brothers have forged an interesting musically sound. Henry's guitar playing is a force throughout the album. He channels Stevie Ray Vaughan on "Crazy Dreams", Santana on "Dime Mi Amor" and sets his own original sound throughout especially with his magnificent acoustic guitar playing. The brothers have wonderful harmonies that provide the songs with a soulful air. "Heaven" is the first single and is, so far, the best song of the year. The album was recorded at Willie Nelson's studio in Austin, TX and Mr. Nelson provides guest guitar work on "La Contestacion". The group has done a wonderful job of absorbing the musical history taught to them by their musical father and mixing those diverse sounds into their own original rock and roll stew.

Free Music Review: Wonderful!
Hit: 5 Stars

This is a wonderful album. Like a lot of others, I bought this album after falling in love with "Heaven" then promptly discovered that the entire album is terrific. A beautiful mixture of blues, rock, and Latin rhythms which is a joy to the ears. Henry Garza is an amazingly talented guitarist (Jojo and Ringo aren't too bad either!). The SRV and Carlos Santana influences are obvious but there are others as well -- I can hear the echos of Hendrix in a few of the solos. But don't get me wrong, Henry isn't just coping other people's licks, he's got his own unique sound which is very impressive. "Onda" is a 9 minute guitar tour-de-force that has to be heard to be believed.

The best news is that young guitarists like Henry Garza and Derek Trucks (another young 20-something ax slinger) are reviving the almost lost art of original solo guitar playing. No power chords, no shredding, no lifeless mechanical playing, no rhythm guitarist to cover weaknesses -- just beautiful, sweet guitar licks overflowing with perfect tone and from-the-heart soul. I can't wait to hear what they do in the future!

Free Music Review: Great cd!
Hit: 5 Stars

I first discovered Los Lonely Boys while flipping through the channels late one night and happened to catch the end of Austin City Limits. What I heard was absolutely terrific. The brief bit of playing that I saw prompted me to order the disc the next day.

The disc is a blend of several genres, my particular favorite being the more blues influenced songs. The blues inspired licks are no surprise considering that Henry Garza taught himself by ear to play guitar from one of the masters - Stevie Ray Vaughn. The disc, however, isn't limited to blues by any means. There's a good helping of rock thrown in to top off a great CD.

Good bands don't come around often these days, but I truly believe that Los Lonely Boys is one of those rare gems that pops up every now and then. Buying this disc was a bit of a departure from my normal listening habits, heavy metal, but i've had no regrets since getting the CD. Regardless of your genre of preference, I highly recommend this terrific debut album from a band that is sure to go very far in the music industry.
