Free Music Notes for Los Lonely Boys

Free Music Review: A great listen
Hit: 5 Stars

This is a debut album that deserves a lot of praise. It is a tribute to numerous genres of music, blended together in an authentic musical experience.

Composition:
I am a big fan of their composition and musical arrangements. They optimize their musical talents, which is all you can ask for in a band. It is impressive that in one album they present touches from many different influences from Santana, the Beatles, and others.

Vocals:
Are they they greatest singers? No. But their voices blend very well... of course, because they are brothers. Henry Garza has a wonderful blend voice between rock and pop. And Jojo actually has a wonderful tenor voice. But most importantly, their harmonization is natural and easy.

Creativity:
The music is very creative, mostly on the part of Henry Garza's work on the guitar. The first time I listened to him play was on Late Night with David Letterman. I consider myself a bit picky with music and musicianship. I remember thinking, this guy is extremely talented, not just with technique but shape. I love the shape of his riffs.

Lyrics:
You can expect this album to share some of the same subject matter as most pop or rock ablums. However, what I do enjoy is that there are also hints of deeper and more spiritual themes in their music (Not just in the song 'Heaven').

Summary:
This is one of my favorite albums from the last couple years. I highly recommend it.

Hit: 5 Stars

Have any of you actually seen them live? I'm from San Angelo, TX, therefore I've had the privelege of seeing them live twice. All I can say is, WOW, these guys sound great live. Henry really goes all out when it comes to his guitar, there's not doubting he's great. Ever see The White Stripes live? Way better than the albums! Same case here. The best tends to come out of guitar players during their shows.

Free Music Review: in a word...wow
Hit: 5 Stars

I haven't heard a new album by a new artist in years that I've loved every song and enjoyed the entire album start-to-finish, over-and-over. I think LLB is my favorite new band.

Great songs, great vocals, great guitar, and great grooves. Henry, Jojo, and Ringo have such a fresh sound, and it still sounds seasoned. I very nicely honed blend of R&B, blue-rock, pop, country, and Mexican rock stylings. I just put the album and start listening. Song after song, its a very enjoyable experience. "Heaven", "Dime Mi Amor", "Hollywood", "Nobody Else", and so many others. I've seen interviews with the band and the CMT special with Ronnie Milsap. It seems the group is really humble and straight-forward about they do. I can't wait to see them live soon.

I highly recommend this album.

Free Music Review: I liked this LP/CD
Hit: 4 Stars

A friend gave me this CD. He was NOT impressed. We share a great deal of music in all genres. He knows that I play guitar and that I have a love of a great variety of music. I didn't know what to think, since I had been slightly prejudiced by my friend's opinion. Knowing about Henry Garza, I decided to sit down and be objective! This is a VERY good CD! It has a great deal of Santana and SRV influence, as well as, that good ol' texas feel! I love Santana, SRV, Johnny Winter and T-Bone Walker, as well as, many others. What? was I supposed to reject this gem???? These guys are good!!!!!!!!!!!! Anytime I pick up my axe and start playing along?????!!!!!!! Heck/HELL YA!!!!! If these fellas make all the needed adjustments (music business) they are going to be around for awhile!!!! Senorita made me start to dancing and playin'! Is this a "drop your jaw" CD, NO! Is it very, very good? HELL YES! The reviews prior to mine say it best! If you like some good guitar playing and some hot, feel good music right out of the Texas genre, this is a pick!!!!! When I am playing a club or set, I am definitely incorporating some of this music! you'll enjoy it.

Free Music Review: Los Lonely Boys - Another reason the best music comes from TEXAS!
Hit: 5 Stars

I have everything they've put out on CD or DVD and can't get enough. I never miss a chance to see em' live! I'm lucky to live in Austin. We have some of the best local music thus giving us the name "Live Music Capital of the World".

What amazes me most is the ages of these brothers. Ringo the drummer is 22, JoJo the most incredible 6 string bass player I've ever seen is 24 and Henry, 26 makes his guitar magical. They write, sing, play and even change instruments in the middle of shows. Sometimes you don't even notice! Just take some SRV, add a little Carlos Santana and then some of their own unique blues style and gosh knows what we'll hear when they hit their 30's or 40's!! Buy the DVD Los Lonely Boys - Texican Style (Live from Austin)~! You won't regret it!!

I miss SRV, Arc Angels, Storyville and many other local bands that were cut short by tragedy or other reasons. If you get a chance, pick up some Vallejo. They are harder edged but incredible and my second favorite to LLB!! Also check out Pushmonkey and Podunk. If you step out of our borders, check out Indigenous. They are an awesome hard edged blues band as well.
