Free Music Review: Finally, a new band that doesn't suck
Hit: 4 Stars

I didn't know about this band until my wife took me to see them at Hampton beach for Father's Day. I was very surprised. Santana's son's band opened up for them and I must say they were just all wrong. Too many different styles mixed into a mess, but LLB was fabulous! All of the people that say they are a rip off of real musicians should get a life. Stevie was influenced by Hendrix, so when he played Voodoo Chile was it a rip off? I remember a friend who was a Hendrix fiend thought that until he heard SRV. The apologies never stopped and the thanks for showing him was always mentioned. To say that there is no soul in this band is unfounded. I can't even listen to the radio anymore because of all the no soul, no talent, metal head, teenybopper trash, rap and so called R & B ( Rythm and BLUES!!!) that is on the waves these days. I remember back in the eighties when all of the pop stuff was on and that fateful day came when I heard that first Stevie Ray lick and had to stop my car to listen and find out who the Hell that was. This band was similar. Not to say tht they are as good as SRV, but I mean really! A BAND THAT PLAYS MUSIC! No looping aerobics class beat. No whiny just into puberty chick singing about her boy toys. No pissed off headbanger trying to start a fight, Just three talented singer/ musicians bringing their own style of music taken from great influences and sending out for us. Truly a band on their way up. I can't wait to hear more stuff to see how these guys grow musically and master their sound. AND PRAISE TO GOD ALMIGHTY THAT THEY NEVER FORGET THEIR INFLUENCES!!!

Free Music Review: Incredibly Addictive Music!
Hit: 5 Stars

I've been listening to LLB's CD so many times that I'd normally be sick to death of it, but I can't seem to hear it enough! I don't even listen to the radio anymore because I'm playing this CD constantly.

I introduced my 24-year old daughter to LLB when we attended their concert at Knoxville's fabulous restored Tennessee Theater (it was her first concernt and it had been 33 years since I went to one, but it was me who invited her to go). LLB gave a fantastic performance, which included several brand new songs and announced that a new CD is due out soon. I can't wait to buy that one, too!

I graduated from high school in the early 70s and loved Santana and Stevie Ray Vaughn, so getting addicted to LLB is like getting to relive my youth :) Thanks, LLB!

Free Music Review: Copy Cat
Hit: 3 Stars

Anyone else think they stole the song "Heaven" from Salvador??? I heard "Heaven" from Salvador before it ever came out by Los Lonely Boys. The "So Natural" album by Salvador was released a month before this one so who is the copy cat here?

Free Music Review: True then, true now!
Hit: 5 Stars

On August 19, 2003, I wrote the following about the original release of this album. I still think it is true.

"On this debut album, you get a real cross section of what Los Lonely Boys can do. Because they are so versatile at bringing diverse elements together, you'll hear them compared to lots of other musicians, but these three are in a class by themselves. The CD ranges from pretty tunes, such as "More Than Love" and "La Contestacion" to the contemplative-then-fiery "Onda" and off to rhythmic rock pieces like "Senorita", "Crazy Dream", and "Real Emotions". Some won't fit into a musical box real well - but you'll find "Hollywood" and "Nobody Else" super too. It's all amazing!"

Since then, I've only grow to enjoy their music more. The other listings for them bring new pieces to the public, and the "second" CD scheduled for later this year has some very, very interesting original material on it.

The 2005 Brotherhood Tour has made LLB fans out of Ozomatli, Calexico and Robert Randolph fans (and vice versa), and this very evening LLB will be on stage with Carlito (gracias, Henry!) Santana as well.

Music for everyone? I think so - the fans range from four year olds to a couple in their seventies. But borrow a copy long enough to give it your own test. Between NOBODY ELSE, HOLLYWOOD, ONDA and HEAVEN, you should certainly find something to love - not just like.

Free Music Review: Why all the hate?
Hit: 5 Stars

After skimming through the reviews, I can't understand why there are so many haters. If you don't like catchy, guitar driven blues-rock, then it's most likely you are into ditzy pop divas and plastic sugar coated boy bands...how fashionably gay! I would recommend to go see them live if you can, they put on a hell of a show! If all their CD's ended up in the used bins, LLB wouldn't care, they would just continue what they're doing. Maybe on a smaller scale playing bars and clubs, I think they would be fine with that. These guys have paid their dues, and give credit where credit is due. They are THE best bar band in the world...that's a compliment!
