Free Music Review: A Gem
Hit: 5 Stars

This album is a pearl, a gem, a diamond. It has one great track after another. There are 13 in all, and you can flip a coin to determine the best cut. LLB's harmonies are sensational, guitar-playing just right. There's a perfect blend of horns, B-3 Hammond, harmonica, sensual tones done in English and Spanish. Sometimes I close my eyes, listen to this disc, over and over again, and think, "how could music sound any better." It can't. I've always felt that reviews are a road map, that buyers should listen to the cuts and determine for themselves. Anyone who doesn't give this 5 stars is deaf to tone and lacks a total understanding of the broad spectrum of music, composition, style and substance. I also caution reviewers to compare artists to one another. I often see other musicians appear in reviews as comparisons. To me, this is nothing more than looking for a needle in a haystack. This cd is a big time winner, just check out the Billboard Charts, not how much you could buy a used copy for. If that was the case, Springsteen's Born to Run (and many, many, many others) are pieces of [...], given they on the net for pennies. My gosh. LLB are mega-talented and Sacred showcases that they will be a major player in the biz for years to come.

Free Music Review: I LOVE THIS
Hit: 5 Stars

When you wait for something for two years, you might get it built up in your mind so much that when it finally arrives you are let down by the reality. That is SO NOT the case with Los Lonely Boys new album, "Sacred." I had heard live versions of many of the songs this past year, as the Garza brothers refined them on the concert stage, and I thought I pretty much knew what to expect on this album. But I had underestimated just how beautiful the songs were going to be. They are soulful, melodic, and bluesy, and the incredible harmony vocals are exquisite. Each and every track is a unique gem to treasure. I loved hearing the old Sofa King track "Diamonds" (which Henry wrote when he was 17), revamped and expanded with soaring guitars replacing the "nah nah nah nahs" the Boys sang as teens. "Never Met a Woman" has a slow sensual groove that draws you in, while Henry's mesmerizing guitar solos soar above. I could go on and on, and describe what is special about each track (and something IS special about every one of them), but maybe it is just better to let the listener discover for himself. The bottom line is: "Sacred" is the best album I've bought in the last 12 months, and I LOVE IT.

Free Music Review: Still Sensational Sophomore Songsters
Hit: 5 Stars

The musical landscape is littered with the waste of "one-hit" wonders who catch the public attention for their allotted fifteen minutes of fame, then fade to a career of headlining Holiday Inns. Since almost everything that appears on popular radio stations is pre-programmed by suit-wearing execs to be spoon-fed to lemming-like teenagers it makes real musicians take notice any time real musicians make it in the biz, especially if their music is roots-based.

The Brothers Garza (Henry on guitar and most lead vocals, Jojo on Bass and vocals and Ringo on drums and vocals) won a grammy for their initial album (for the surprising "Heaven") and bring their intense, and seriously fun, brand of Tex-Mex Tejano Bluesabilly to their sophomore album and they don't let up an inch. The tunes are just as good, and their performances just as inspired.

The CD opens with "My Way", and proceeds through one gem after another. Every track is worthwhile, but I'm particularly drawn to the spicy "Oye Mamacita" and "Texican Style", as well as the tribute "Outlaws" recorded with their father and special guest Willie Nelson.

Free Music Review: Time to get lonely
Hit: 5 Stars

Los Lonely Boys has come out swinging on their newest CD, "Sacred." They have intentionally stayed away again, as on the self-titled CD, from being painted into one musical genre corner. There is something for every music taste on Sacred, from Tex-Mex rock to Texas blues to a defiant anthem young people can identify with to a rocking country blast to ballads.

My two favorites are Roses and My Way, although Diamonds, My Loneliness and Oye Mama Cita are not far behind. Personally, I believe that if Roses had been the first release from the CD, it would be blowing the top off the charts as we speak like Heaven did in 2004.

Los Lonely Boys will bring in new fans, and they will put to rest the nay-saying critics who are always skeptical whether a band can follow the phenomenal success of its first album.

As Henry puts it, Los Lonely Boys has taken something from the legends and put it into their own tortilla to make a highly-individualized Musical Burrito to feed to the world. Vamonos----again, LLB!!!
