This is one of those records that broke me out of my hardcore Hip Hop phase back in the 1990's. Between this record and D'Angelo's "Brown Sugar" my musical world was turned upside down! I still listen to these songs now.
Also, I really hoped this film would create new opportunities for real black romance films to be made. That did not happen, but it does not take anything away from this soundtrack. Let's get back to playing love songs to each other like this!

One of the best soundtracks I have heard in a long time. Every song is beautiful, especially Maxwell's Sumthin(mello smoothe). A perfect cd for Valentines Day, or for long car drives.
