Free Music Notes for The New Bossa NovaFree Music Review: A definite "yes" Hit: 5 StarsThe "sensual sadness and nostalgia" in Souza's voice and this musical form is perfect for those contemplative moments and memories. Reviewed on NPR, this is gently rendered selection of fine songs by a beautiful voice.
Free Music Review: the new bossa nova Hit: 4 Starsthe new bossa nova is a nice album. luciana
souza has a 'pure' sweet voice, and the
arrangements are precise and pleasant, but
the over all effect is too tight, constrained.
a bossa nova should flow but there's not enough
context here to swing. I think the songs are
done with serious intent. if you elimminate
the the 'new' bossa nova aspect of it, it's a
pretty good album.
Free Music Review: Cool and sexy mood music Hit: 5 StarsI bought this after hearing an interview on NPR. This pop-bossa nova fusion is modern and delicious. It's really refreshing to hear familiar pop tunes not just rearranged, but reinvented. The track Lician sings with James Taylor leaves is brilliant. Luciana's vocals exude a melt-in-your-ears sensuousness that compares favorably with Gilberto's "Girl from Ipanema." GET THIS CD if you love world music.
Free Music Review: Another excellent CD from Luciana Souza Hit: 5 StarsLuciana Souza seems at home in almost any music genre, and this new CD, "The New Bossa Nova," is no exception. Her voice reminds me of Ella Fitzgerald in that it feels pure and guileless -- no gimmicks and nowhere is it overwrought or overdone.
I love this CD and have listened to it over and over. Another excellent CD from Luciana Souza
Free Music Review: Brazilian butter..... Hit: 5 StarsI bought this for my wife as a Christmas gift after hearing Luciana interviewed on NPR. My wife and I share a passion for Brazilian music, especially when it is something a bit different, as this album is. This music is soothing, calming, and filled with warmth....
