I think Lucinda Williams is one of those artists that knows she has a gift. She takes time with her recordings because she wants things to be perfect. She really doesnt care what you or I think, it's just what matters to her. For many fans of any type of music, this can be hard for them to swallow. For those of you who like to LISTEN to what an artist has to say, then this album is a priority. On her last album, there was a very edgy, don't screw with me sound. THis album evokes a very meloncholy state of mind. IT may seem to be depressing at first, but with repeated listening, this is truly beautiful music. She has always had a knack for laying her feelings out on the table, but here it is almost so personal, it is as if you are look at her personal pictures or reading her journal. This album does not rock, it floats! Enjoy.
