Free Music Notes for Lucy PearlFree Music Review: A Great CD! Hit: 5 StarsI think Lucy Pearl's CD is great. I love the song "Dance Tonight". That song is great. I recommend it to anyone who likes R&B/Soul music.
Free Music Review: Absolutely Love It! Hit: 5 StarsNow that I have bought this CD, I find myself listening to it practically everytime I get in my car. I cannot leave home without this CD. I love the wonderful mixture of talent that Dawn, Raphael, and Ali have shown on this album. Each of these individuals' talents is expressed on this album. I wouldn't say it is just a mixture of songs that sound like something from Toni Tony Tone, EnVogue, or a Tribe Called Quest, because it goes much deeper than that. The creative songs and the instrumentation on this album are things that anyone can groove to, and yet it has that laid-back feel to it. My favorite songs would have to be "Dance Tonight", "Don't Mess With My Man", "I Can't Stand Your Mama", and "Without You".
Free Music Review: Ohhhh Lucy Hit: 4 StarsWhen you put together the remains of the three Ts, Tribe and En Vogue and stir well this is what you get. This is a fresh release for 2000 with beats for urban play and smooth R&B radio. Great concept and music. I wish Dawn Robinson got a couple of songs to really show off her stuff. Mr. Saadiq is on point and Muhammad is dropping beats all over the place. I hope "Without You" is released as the next single, it's got radio play written all over it. So if you're in the industry show some love to that song so we can get this product to platinum status where it belongs.Favorite Tracks: 1. Lucy Pearl's Way 3. Dance Tonight 7. Good Love 8. Without You 9. Don't Mess With My Man
Free Music Review: And This Is Only Their Debut! Hit: 5 StarsPlucking the most talented members from three popular and influential bands of the late 80's and 90's was a stroke of genius. Hearkening back to the days when bands wrote, arranged, produced and performed actual SONGS, Lucy Pearl have crafted a charming, hook filled, infectious and mature debut album. The chemistry between these three young people is so evident on every cut, songs like "Trippin", "Dance Tonight", "La La La", "I Can't Stand Your Mother" and "Remember The Times" already sound like classics from a well seasoned band. The entire album has a laid back, 70's vibe that entices the listener from the outset, yet switches gears abruptly only once with the brilliant, pulverizing hard rock assault of "Hollywood". But a guitar heavy riff-a-thon like this is still funky and features one of Dawn Robinsons' best lead vocals ever. You'll Love it. My personal favorites: the above mentioned "Hollywood" and the hip-hop flavored, anthemic "They Can't", which sounds like a dig at their old groups ('we got the hell off the train, before it ran off the tracks, got up on this Lucy thing and we never looked back, they can't handle us, they can't control us no more!') and finds Dawn, Raphael Saadiq and Ali Shaheed Muhammed looking straight ahead and ready to take soul music into the next century! If every leg of the trip is this fun, the future looks mighty bright!
Free Music Review: My dream come true! Hit: 5 StarsLucy Pearl is a simple concept: a WONDERFUL band--yes, band--made up of musicians from three of my most favorite groups of all time! It's Tonyx3, En Vogue, and A Tribe Called Quest all wrapped into one, with the BEST elements and styles from each of the groups. How could this be anything BUT great? All of the songs will bring a smile to your face due to their sheer originality, and the style is so laid-back and old school that the songs all remind you of the days when the world was a better place. It's got good dance tracks, most importantly. This CD is a definate win, so buy it at all costs!
