Free Music Notes for Lucy Pearl

Free Music Review: Hyped, but not too disappointing.
Hit: 3 Stars

I was a fan of Tony!Toni!Tone!,EnVogue and A Tribe Called Quest(one of my favorite former hip hop groups), so, yes, I anticipated this album. I do not think that the project lived up to the hype, but it is clearly not a bad effort. There are some good songs on here that save this album from failure. Lala, Everyday, and Dance Tonight(which I am sure you have all heard) all have nice grooves. Some of my other favorites are Good Love(simple, but nice)and They Can't(nice hip hop beat and good hook), but the track Without You is the perfect example of the type of songs that I thought Lucy Pearl should have had on the album. I think that this is the best song on the album. Some of the other songs are just well.........okay. For example, Trippin, which is not bad, just can't be distinguished from anything else on your local urban radio station. I Can't Stand Your Mother, though humorous at times, is something that I could have done without. I felt that since these three members all came from groundbreaking groups, they would bring something more diverse and original to the table with this album. But, I guess not. Nonetheless, it is not terrible, by any means, it just seems incomplete.

Free Music Review: INTERESTING..........................
Hit: 3 Stars

This cd was cool. It has some mellow, but not typical grooves. I liked it.

Free Music Review: Nice Groove
Hit: 4 Stars

Lucy Pearl is a unique blend of funk, r&b and straight soul. The members did a fine job of blending their individual talents into one "masterpiece".

My favorite cuts are Lala and I Want To Dance Tonight. They both exemplify freedom and are a clear representation of what Lucy Pearl is all about.

Lucy Pearl definitely has potential....

Free Music Review: Excellent CD
Hit: 5 Stars

I recently bought this CD after hearing the single,"Dance Tonight".My favorite songs are "Dance Tonight" and "Trippin."I love Lucy Pearl's voice. This CD is more than i expected it to be.I loved the 1st single,Dance Tongiht but I thought all the songs were going to have the same beat and that i'd get tired of listening to it. Obvioulsy i was wrong. This CD is great. If you like R&B,I encourage u to buy this CD.

Free Music Review: Pretty Good! Not Perfect.
Hit: 4 Stars

Lucy Pearl's debut album definitely has strong points and a funcky edge. It took me a couple listens to figure out that the feel of "Dance Tonight" was pretty different from the rest of the album. The rest of the album is not as R&Bish and it's obvious why "Dance Tonight" was the first song realesed. However my complaint with most of the reviewers here is why when one type of music is embraced another form is condemed. Now that we have our Maxwells,D'Angelos,Badus, and Hills(our NeoSoulians), we totally dis R&B. Sorry to say but I can except Amel with the same ears that love Kelly Price. And just because i dig Badu doesn't make Toni Braxton any less of a talent to me. You people need to realize that there are different vibes out there and different forms of talent, and all levels of music need to be embraced, and not just turn out backs on R&B as if it was some evil past to flee from!
