Free Music Notes for Lucy PearlFree Music Review: It's not all that Hit: 3 StarsLucy Pearl was a 'supergroup' formed back in 98 from the ashes of other groups, Raphael Saadiq (Tony Toni Tone), Dawn Robinson (En Vogue), and Ali (A Tribe Called Quest) hooked up to record this album, and while they didn't last long, this self titled debut is a good set, although it didn't rival the classic material of Tony Toni Tone or Tribe Called Quest.`Dance Tonight' and `Don't Mess With My Man' were the two big singles, and they still sound fresh when they get played these days. The rest of the material is kind of patchy. It starts off strong with nice cuts like `Lucy Pearls Way' and `Trippin', but around the half way point things get hot and cold. Also, a lot of the cuts are quite brief and it sometimes sounds more like a demo than a finished album. `Without You' and `You' were two other singles and are good tracks, but they only just hold things together on side two. The main statement Lucy Pearl makes to me is that Saadiq has skills but needs his brother Dwayne Wiggins & Christian Riley a lot more than I realised. With so many big egos in one group its no surprise Lucy Pearl didn't last long, but they did make a pretty cool album even if it isn't a classic. If you like your contemporary R&B you should like this too.
Free Music Review: Just Plain Hot Hit: 5 StarsI just found and bought this CD after feverishly looking for it! I had only heard a couple of tracks and absolutely loved them. After hearing the entire CD, this group did not disappoint. The combination of funk, hip hop, R&B, just drive this CD. Not the mention the use of the instruments. No pre-recorded studio crap! It's too bad they are no longer together.

Free Music Review: BEST.R&B.ALBUM.EVER Hit: 5 StarsSo nothing is perfect --however, Lucy Pearl gives that statement a run for its money the combination of musical talents on this album really does produce the kinds of beautiful sounds that one expects to hear Dance Tonight and Lala are forever classics to me and will ALWAYS be in my fav Top 10 The rest of the album is simply a beautiful example of what makes R&B the best musical genre in the world - beautiful rhythms of music, combined with equally beautiful voices If I ever make it to Heaven, I expect that Dance Tonight will be playing at the pearly gates Any lover of R&B will love this album, and is a DEFINITE requirement for any musical library
Free Music Review: 3 Indivuals form a new meaning of music... Hit: 5 StarsWhen I first heard Dance Tonight I was hooked. But when I heard who the artist was, I was trying to figure out who in the devil was LUCY PEARL? I soon found out and I went and purchased their album as was not disappointed. From Rafael soulful vocal stylings to his writing skills, to The DJ, even to DAWN.. They just collaborate in a way that know one else could. The CD has something for every relationship, even a lil MARCHING BAND! LOL!
