P>...This album is unbelievable. Totally fresh to my ears...Full of heart, soul, funk, beats, rhythms, rock and groove, the harmonies mesh so well, and the album flows...it's honestly gorgeous.Won't go into crazy detail..but there really are some outstanding tracks on here (and yeah, there are still those that are a shocker..). "Dance Tonight" (You so do whenever you put it on..without fail makes me feel so much better=) ), "Trippin'", "Everyday", "goodlove" (excellent slowjam track), "Don't mess with my man" (extremely funky), "You" (also from Save the Last Dance soundtrack).
Tracks not so good.."lalala" (just seems really typical and seems rushed...honeslty has a loopy feel to it), and "lucy pearl tells" (the dance tonight remix is fantastic! goes off, but the talking of the guys is a schocker...kinda furthur implies the stereotype.)
excellent album though, only 2 bad of the 15 tracks (which I sure aint think that bad!! ) really is full of soul, it's heart felt, it's fresh, it's funky. definate for all rnbers, and those just getting into the scene=)

This album has a cool vibe to it. I can feel the heavy musical influence of Tribe though the drums and bass parts on most tunes like Everyday and Good Love. Tribe released some of the dopest hihop albums of the last decade and this album is going to be one of the best of this decade. Now that Joi has replaced Dawn, things are gonna get real interesting. With the exceptions of a handful of recent artists, R&B since the advent of synthesizers in the early 80s has stunk to high heaven with the lack of soulful harmonies and instrumental interplay. The Lucy Pearl CD puts the SOUL back in R&B! The instrumentation and harmony between Dawn, Raphael, and Muhammad, are top-notch and enjoyable. 'Dance Tonight", "Tripping," and "Everyday" are relaxing and danceable. "Don't Mess With My Man" and "Remember the Times" are both quite joyful, while "Good Love" is a sweet ballad. However, I REALLY loved the vibe on "Let's Do It For the People." Has the feel of a group of musicians jamming together at the end of a live concert a'la the rock and roll hall of fame. One can easily visualize the rapport between the musicians and the crowd on this tune. Only complaint-the marching band segment on "Lucy pearl tells" is a bit too short. Well what can I say, if you put a woman with a wonderful voice and two guys who were at their best in the group Tony Toni Tone, you get a great combination. I find this group wonderful with great soul and hiphop in it, but was pretty suprised when I heared Hollywood. I was very disapointed in that song and a few others but besides that this album is the bomb !!
