Release Therapy is Hip Hop artist Ludacris' 5th solo album. The 1st tract titled Warning is a good track that really sets the pace for the rest of the cd. Next is a track titled "Grew up a Screw up ft. Young Jeezy. This is a great followup from the first song and features a Biggie sample for the chorus. Track 3 is called Money Maker and it ft The Neptunes artist Pharrell. This track is decent but does not stand out because it is very similar to everything else on the radio. It also is different from most of his other songs because ludacris usually sings the hook on the chorus but on this one Pharrell sings it. Track 4 is titled Girls Gone Wild. This is clearly a club song, but it is also one of the weaker songs on the cd compared others. The next track is titled Ultimate Satisfaction and it features Field Mob. This song has a very interesting beat, and is clearly better than the previous two tracks. The next track which is titled Mouths to Feed, is an excellent track. The beat and his rapping are similar to his old styles in previous cd's but he is delivering a positive message in it. End of the Night is the 7th track on this cd. This song ft. Bobby Valentino. Although, this song is a downstep from mouths to feed it is still good. This song also doesn't contain ludacris singing the chorus, which is evidence of his change of style in this cd. Track 8 titled Woozy ft. R.Kelly is song you can just chill too. It is in my opinion one of the best therapy songs on this cd. Next is track 9 which is titled tell it like it is. This is clearly where the cd changes from the therapy side to the release side. Ludacris raps about problems he has had in his career and just gets everything out in it. Track 10 is War with God. This is an excellent song. Ludacris starts out rapping slow and calm, but seems to get angrier and more aggressive as the song progresses. This sounds as if it could be a diss to someone but he doesn't specifically say any other person/rappers name in it. The next track is 11 and its called do you time. It ft. Pimp C, Beanie Sigel & C Murder. Another good song on the cd, he is rapping in this one about how the justice system is corrupt, and is encouraging them to do their time and get out. Track 12 is titled Slap. In my opinion this appears to be one of the best songs on the cd, and it has a beat that is very relaxing to listen to. In this song he talks about everything that has been making him angry lately and how it makes him want to slap someone to relieve some stress. Track 13 is titles Runaway Love and ft. Mary J. Blige. In this song he talks about some of the problems that young girls face such as sex, drugs, and pregnancy with Mary J. Blige singing the chorus. This is also a good song, although it is somewhat depressing. The 14th and final track of this cd is titled Freedom of Preach. This song is a good way to end the cd because the beat is like church music and it's like after he has gotten all of his problems off his chest he is praying for everyone's forgiveness that did him wrong and thanking god for all the good that he has received. This song also ft. Bishop Eddie Lee Long and although he doesn't rap he gives a little speech at the end which also adds to the effect that he is at church in this song. Overall I would say that this cd is a 5/5. Although there about 2 weaker tracks on this cd they are not bad enough that you have to skip them to get to the next track, and many of the other tracks are so good that it makes up for them.

In the two years since the release of The Red Light District , acclaimed rapper Ludacris has gone through more than a few personal changes. From dealing with "haters" to his role in the Oscar winning film Crash to being a father to his daughter, 28-year-old Luda continues to mature as a man and an artist on his fifth disc, Release Therapy .Ludacris doesn't pull out any real surprises here, but he also wouldn't have lasted this long if he didn't have a talent for consistency. What's missing here are big singles. His first attempt, "Money Maker," was too color-by-numbers. There's nothing on Release Therapy that achieves the anthem status of older Ludacris singles like "Stand Up" or "Pimpin All Over the World." Yet, even lacking a stand-out radio hit, Release Therapy is a satisfying listen, working what's now become a standard blend of playa/pimp songs ("Girls Gone Wild") and a few trap anthems ("Grew Up a Screw Up") and dispensing grown folk wisdom ("Freedom of Preach"). Along the way, he manages to take a slap at former protégé Chingy ("Tell It Like It Is"), rap about young mothers with Mary J. Blige on "Runaway Love," and hold it down for brothers in lock-up alongside Pimp C, Beanie Siegel, and C-Murder on "Do Your Time." Though not spectacular, Release Therapy stays the course for Luda to continue ruling as the Mouf of the South. --Oliver Wang
