After listening to this album a few times and soaking in everything LF has to say, I really have to applaud this young man for not conforming to the norm, and spilling his heart out all over this record. You can tell Jay-Z had his hands all over this project. For me, this album is a refreshing, enlightening listen. This kid is for the struggle, and he can definitely spit. Honestly its been a long time since I heard something really new in hip hop. Lupe Fiasco is something new, a new sound and a new take. The industry seems to be stagnating with gangster rap (which I like but it gets old after a while) that combined with southern rap and you can tell theres something wrong with hip hop today.
Lupe Fiasco comments on the current state of hip hop in a few of his songs and rejects the classic gangster rap pattern to success in order for something real. Great CD, great lyricist.

It feels great to finally hear some real positive lyrics. Like many people who have written reviews for this Lupe cd, we are tired of hearing about cars, chains, grills, etc. Lupe is a rapper. These other bling bling, sholder lean just have catchy beats with lyrics any grammer schooler can write. It is time for rappers to get on a higher level and step their game up. WHat can I say, I cannot stop listening to this man's cd. People from the south need to take notes man because this is a man rapping about some real stuff and not about White tee's or any other mess!! Def one of the best cd's I have heard in a long time

I love Lupe Fiasco, I think he is so underrated, people like rappers that rap about women, drugs, cars, killing, ect. Thats why hip hop is dead. I think this album is the meaning of hip-hop. His flow is 1 of the best out right now. What I don't understand is how dem franchize boyz can go gold but lupe fiasco is underrated. This is exactly why Nas and Jay need to save hip hop.
1. Real - 5/5 - I like this, he just spit straight foward.
2. Just Might Be OK - 4/5 - Not one of the greatest songs on the album
3. Kick, Push - 5/5 - This dude can just talk about skateboarding through the whole song, wow.
4. I Gotcha - 4/5 - I love the beat, and his flow
5. The Instrumental - 5/5 - The real meaning of rap
6. He Say, She Say - 5/5 - One of my favorite songs on the album, about a boy that doesn't have a father figure around
7. Sunshine - 5/5 - Straight foward rhyming
8. Daydreamin' - 5/5 - My all time favorite on the album, his flow on this song was incredible
