Ah! Luther Vandross has done it again. A good album and good sense of style for a man of age. Though with all the hip-hop hash that you get nowadays it's good to see his music still lives on. Especially "Dance With My Father". A song that is emotionally for someone who misses their father. I always remember Luther for his sweeping ballads and slow RnB groove numbers and he does it so beautifully for so many years. Fans of all agaes will always remember him. And this album is really nice to listen to anytime and you will not find yourself pressing the skio buttons. But truly Luther Vandross can really make a man cry even. I mean his songs are always so emotionally toching and that is his gift in music. Touching people from the heart. Now that is a realy gift! Sadly many artists don't do that anymore but by releasing slush music for money. Luther you will be missed and Always loved for who you are and you music! Happy listening Guys!!! Like a previous reviewer, I was drawn to this recording and several others from Luther after reading a tribute to this great man on the michaelvalentinestudio photography site.
I was amazed at how much this man has done. Not only vocally, but also in production and contribution to soul & rnB on a whole. I bought 3 copies of this album for friends, who had many of his previous recordings and wanted this to complete their set. But I believe he has other albums released in the 70's, which didn't do well commercially. The albums "Luther" and "This close to you". I will be searching for these in the Amazon Z shops as I have heard they contain many gems.

I love this cd! it reminds me of my last year in high school, a good cd of contemporary rnb but one of the most classic singers there ever was with collaborations that work so so well, especially the closer i get to you w/beyonce and lovely day part ii w/busta. And like someones review i read before, the 35 yr old guy surgeon, Amen!! everyone time i hear dance with my father, it makes me wanna cry cos all i think about is my dad, and im 20. I didn't fully understand the significance of Luther Vandross's input until I read his bio and record recommendation on the michaelvalentinestudio.com website recently. He was a great man and is a great loss to the music world on a whole. A great singer, who gave his all in every song he sang. I also did not realise that he had so much material. I would love to find "This close to You" album. I have only seen this album on the michael valentine studio website. I am hoping to find it on amazon as they have all the others.
