I always thought Luther would recover from his stroke. I prayed for his recovery and was encouraged by his appearance on the Grammy show in 2004. Sure, he was weak, but it didn't seem possible that Luther could leave us so soon. Hearing about his death today broke my heart.
I have never been able to listen to "Dance With my Father" without getting a bit weepy. Now, it brings me to tears. What an incredible songwriter and performer Luther was. He will be greatly missed.

As many times as I would have loved to Dance With My Father, my time was cut short when he passed away. Luther's song brought my father's memories back to life for me and I want to thank him for all the inspiration and powerful songs that he's made throughout the years. The news about him going home to be with our Heavenly Father hit me like a ton of bricks. I am saddened, but also, I'm grateful for the wonderful legacy that he leaves behind. I remember this album when I was 16. This album has a soulful vibe and a more mature sound. This album is finding him examining aspects of life,love and relationships from different perspectives. The subject matter is distinctly personal. This album has been certified Platinum. Remember,this was 2003. I Luv this album.
