Free Music Notes for Live at Radio City Music Hall 2003Free Music Review: Dear Luther, we can Never have Too Much of you... Hit: 5 Stars
This is a great collection of live cuts, recorded at Radio City Music Hall, NYC, the same year that Luther suffered his awful stroke. It's really quite an exciting album to listen to; if you've ever seen Luther live, you can imagine the whole show.
Luther's was the voice of loneliness. He sings his truth and wears his desperate heart on his tuxedo sleeve on two of his most famous ballads on this CD; A House Is Not A Home and Superstar.
Apart from being the balladeer of our generation (and the Sinatra of Soul), Luther returns to his disco/funky roots at times; the Le Freak-ish version of Creepin' is worth the price of admission alone !!
Free Music Review: IS A DVD OF THIS CONCERT , PLEASE!!!!!!! Hit: 5 Stars
I ABSOLUTELY LOVE LOVE THIS CD!!! I love Luther's deliberation of every song. He gives you so much more than just singing words to a song. So much talent, there is no one out there equal to MR. LUTHER VANDROSS. " LOVE WON'T LET ME WAIT ", SUPERSTAR, "A HOUSE IS NOT A HOME" , "CREEPIN" IS SUPERIOR!!! I am still having a hard time believing such talent has left us.
I thank Luther for the musical legacy he has left with us. I hope there is a DVD of this concert somewhere , please let there be a DVD coming out soon of this concert. I need to see this great and talented artist perform one last time. GOD BLESS LUTHER, REST IN PEACE SWEET ANGEL. LOVE YOU ALWAYS.
Free Music Review: Vintage Vandross Hit: 5 Stars
Luther is more than an amazing voice, as this Live in Concert album demonstrates. He knows how to arrange music and voices to take simple lyrics and melodies into a dimension that no other artist has mastered -- or dares to go. The version of Superstar, with a stirring piano solo, and then wafting harmonies, is worth the price of admission alone. But Luther doesn't begin or stop there. He does just a touch of taking the smooth off of his velvet voice to give "Glow of Love," which has never been one of my favorite songs, a rawer and more upbeat edge. It works. In fact, this whole CD works. It is destined to be a classic.
Free Music Review: Luther Live is incomparable Hit: 5 Stars
I am probably preaching to the converted here but I saw Luther live four times and on each occasion he was just phenomenal - better live than on the original recordings.
This is a fantastic CD but you should also get Live at Wembley which I feel is an even better performance overall (slightly less power, but even more subtlety and a playlist that hangs together better).
I'm grateful I got to see him and that we can enjoy performances like these forever - there won't be another Luther.
Free Music Review: Take Me Back, Take You Back...To A Luther concert Hit: 5 Stars
I must confess, Luther's last CD "Dance With My Father" was the first time I did not rush out and buy it. I own everything else!! I bought this CD hoping to relive the magic of Luther's concert and like others, hoping that I will be able to see him perform live again.I was not disappointed. If you are a Luther fan, this CD is a must!!! If you never have seen a concert, here is an inexpensive way to get a taste of what you hear. Luther has been my favorite vocalist since the early 80s and this CD rekindled all these years oflistening to his vocal art. Hope you enjoy it as much as I did!!!
