Free Music Review: Okay Cd
Hit: 3 Stars

This cd teaches you to appreciate what you have when you get it. I only enjoyed a couple of songs on the cd and not the entire cd.

Free Music Review: This will be the realest thing I ever wrote - for sure....
Hit: 5 Stars

And because Im tired of seeing ya'll compare him to your presumptions of musicians that are "Soul" and "Neo-Soul" .. when in actuality those musicians dont even like the term "Neo-Soul" ..

It's real music, from my heart - if you ever been thru something, this man, and his story can possibly HELP YOUR LIFE... and thats not pun intended on his name.. It just so happens to be so...

GOD BLESS HIM, and I'll look forward to more music from this man

Keep doing your thing Lyfe... (with the Y)

Free Music Review: One of the best CD's I ever purchased...
Hit: 5 Stars

A friend of mine recommended this CD because of the song "Hypothetically". He said it was probably the "realest" song he'd ever heard. I listened to it & fell in love. Over the next few days, I got a chance to listen to the entire CD and I was sold on it and had to get my own copy!

Lyfe is amazing. His voice is soulful and passionate. The lyrics are a reflection of his "lyfe" and walk you through where he was back in the day to where he is now. Through his music, he gives hope to those who have made mistakes and are looking for a better way. He is not shy about telling his story and does not mind telling you what he used to be. Now when you look at him, you see a down to earth guy who is not flashy and full of pride.

I had the chance to see him in concert this past weekend and I am in awe. The sound was not working too well, so he did most of his show playing the guitar, which was awesome. He even did one cut off of his upcoming album that he performed acapella & I cried.

I'm not sure exactly what you guys who are leaving negative reviews are listening to. Yeah, he is singing about his life and things he's done in the past, but he is not glorifying the what he's done. He doesn't call women out of their names, nor does he sing about killing people and selling drugs sitting a track. He's just a guy who's done some things that he's not proud of, served his time and changed his life. Now, he's telling people his story. If you don't like the story, don't buy the cd, but don't knock the guy for being who he is and that's a real person with a real story. That's why you can preview albums in the store and online before you buy them. Someone said don't waste your money, instead buy something like Anthony Hamilton or John Legend - they basically have the same style - it's just real music! Lyfe and Anthony Hamilton both have raspy, old school voices. The rough voice is what gives the "uniqueness"! Not many brothers out there can really sing and send chills through you. Usher is an awesome performer and R. Kelly is an exciting lyricist, but neither compare to Lyfe's style (just picked two popular artists - not intending to pick on either of them because I like 'em both).

All the songs have their own individuality and none of them sound the same. It's music you can relate to, bob your head to and ride in your car and cruise to! All of us have either done it or been through it or know someone who has (no matter what that "it" is). Visit www.2lyfe.com and see for yourself - you can watch a short video of him & maybe then y'all can appreciate the man.

A shout out and big ups to my boy who gave me his CD to listen to - thank you, papi - one of the best gifts you've given me yet ;)

Free Music Review: Was McDonald's Giving Away Recording Contracts Last Year?
Hit: 1 Stars

Anyone who would write a positive review of this album must be on the most potent of crack-cocaine. Can we just agree that his voice sounds terrible, for starters. His subject matter doesn't help him either. I found myself praying out loud, "Lord, what's wrong with him?" Yeah, he went to jail, and now he's keeping it "real"; real bad! I should have known from the first single, but I gave him the benefit of the doubt. What was the record label thinking when they signed him? Bottom line, don't waste your money on this garbage.

Free Music Review: Brother who sings from his heart
Hit: 3 Stars

I finally come across this album and after finished listing to it; I thought it was pretty good. This guy is the epitome of contradiction. He is a compassionate thug, a caring ex-con, and an anti-church man of faith. His album is not merely a compilation of songs, it tells the story of his life. Sometimes your heart has to be stepped on to display the type of emotion that is portrayed in his music. The emotion of his life is presented for us all to see in this album. Lyfe is an artist who goes against the grain to let us share in his talent with this album.
There maybe one or two songs on a R&B artists album that allow you to connect with them but the rest are love songs, sad songs, club songs, etc. What Lyfe does on each song is connect the listener to what he has been through or how he feels. When he sings you can hear the soul and passion through his lyrics.
One of favorite tracks is "Cry" which begins with Lyfe singing and playing the guitar. He starts harmonizing on some of lyrics and then the drums and organ come in. The other's are: "Must be Nice", "Hypothetically," "My Life," and "26 Years, 17 Days." The song is arranged very well.
Hopefully this is just the beginning for him. He does have the potential to grow and develop even further into his career. If you like Maxwell, Anthony Hamilton, Erika Badu, Jill Scott, even Jaheim, you'll like Lyfe Jennings.
