Free Music Notes for The Phoenix

Free Music Review: A Street Soul Delivery
Hit: 5 Stars

The raspy falsetto, Lyfe, returns with his sophomore album, The Phoenix. Which was supposedly was named after his son. This album like its predecessor, Lyfe 268-192, is the continuance of the story of a journey of soul resurrection. Now this is isn't Hip-Hop soul, nor Neo soul, but what I like to call Street soul. This more polished album shows his blunt street struggles with a gospel influence music. This album shows more of his self empowerment and encouragement through more personel and moral subject matters. This is shown in songs like the Tupac sampled "Keep Your Head Up" and "S.E.X." . In "S.E.X", which features his new artist Lala Brown, he talks to young girls growing into their womanhood and they should protect themselves emotionally and sexually , when it comes to men. My favorites being more of his low tempo songs like, "Lets Stay Together", "Down Here, Up There", and "Goodbye", which is my favorite

Now I am going to admit; that the narration interludes, between each song, was a little more annoying, than the first album. On the first album it was nice, and showed more of his story and where he was coming from when he wrote the song, and flowed from one song to the other. However, on this album I wasn't feeling it as much. I felt as if he was trying to hard to connect them. I liked it the first time i listened to this album, but after a couple of times i felt i could do without it.

Free Music Review: Gritty yet beautiful
Hit: 5 Stars

Lyfe's "The Pheonix" is a phenominal album that combines his unique and soulful voice with a splash of guitar rifts and hip hop. Think anthony hamilton meets usher.

Free Music Review: Great...Soulful Album
Hit: 5 Stars

This album is something else. When i first heard it, it was so inspiring. His best songs are easily "Radio", "Always love you", "Lets Stay together", "Always Love you", "the River". Simply, If you liked his first album, you will like this album times 2.

Hit: 5 Stars

EXCELLENT, EXCELLENT, EXCELLENT!

This man is so d*mn good to still be practically a new artist. Songs are very meaningful and his voice is amazing.

Lyfe keep doing your thang. You are the best male r&b artist out there.

Free Music Review: not as good as the first
Hit: 2 Stars

Lyfe is a black man trying to do something positive but this CD can't touch his first. He used up all of the clever topics on his debut CD 268-192. This CD was bland. He appears to have softened up lyrically and as a person. The interludes were not amusing. He can really sing though!
