Free Music Review: Excellent, but I want more

I've got to be the Biggest Lyfe Jennings fan out there. I heard his CD by someone playing it, and said who is that. I then brought his first CD, his first CD+DVD, and now the Phoenix. I certainly think the phoenix has some great moments, but the thing that impresses me the most is this man can sing, and not just on the Album like Mary J. He's a true artist in the sense of the word, and that impresses me. I feel like said previously that its kind of a sophmore thing, or else I would give Phoenix 5 stars. Took sometime to grow on me, but I like it more and more each time. The River, Slow Down, Goodbye, Let's stay together are my Favorites so far.Once I see him live, I'm sure I'll like even more. Goodbye on Good Morning America was just the bomb. This brother is gonna be number one, and surpass all that fake USHER/B2K Crap. This man's got true talent.Free Music Review: WOW!

Months ago a friend of mine asked me about Lyfe. I said something like, "I think a coworker gave me his cd to put on my computer, I listened to it for a minute, didn't think much of it." A few days ago another friend of mine said that she would like the Lyfe CD. I went to work yesterday and listened to the cd as I burned it for her. I have been consumed by his first cd for the past 24 hours, even driving around last night just to listen to it under the moonlight! Upon reading online that Phoenix was just released, I ventured out in the rain solely to get this cd. Like another reviewer, I listened to the first song and thought. "OH NO, he has gone the hip hop route!" I was ready to be disappointed, but I gave the cd a chance and once again Lyfe has delivered the goods. Wow 1. As is heard on "Radio" Lyfe is a spiritualist who knows of the basic humanity in EVERYONE. Black, White.. Gay... Lesbian... ! Not too many brothers would sing about that! Wow 2. "Keep Your Head Up is a beautiful anthem to Black women. Promise, many Black women will listen to this and tear up.. some of you Brothers too! "Although you were crack fiend mamma, you were always a Black Queen Mamma! " Wow 3. "Stingy" is one of the most creative love songs I have ever heard where he sings of being jealous of a woman's clothes for touching her more than he does. He even cusses her bath water! Now, I am sure there are many other Wows, but I have only listened to the cd once and certainly the best is at the end of the disc. I love to hear a brother singing true R & B. Maxwell, Musiq, Donell Jones, Jaheim are a few of my favorites. Yes, there is some hip hop on this cd, and but for a couple of times the rappers use the word "bitch" towards woman, these songs do not detract too much from the cd. For future collaborations I think NAS, KRS 1, Chuck D etc..would bring a more contentious vibe to any song. On first listen, is this better than the first cd.. No.. but it is still MUCH better than anything new that is getting radio time and still very much deserving of 5 stars!Free Music Review: This is absolutely a great CD

I purchased the Lyfe Jennings "The Phoenix" cd today after waiting for this for a long time. After hearing his first album, i knew that this one would not let me down. As i listen to every track and to all the lyrics this man puts in his songs, i am not disappointed at all. This whole cd from start to finish is astonishing to me. I thought the album was decent, nice lyrics...But honestly I didnt think it was that great. I wasnt impressed with beats and melodies. The slow songs are nice, the stand out tracks are SEX, Down here, Up there, and Lets Stay Together. His first album 268-192, I would give 5+ stars and recommend everyone pick up, I LUV that CD. I think this was just the sophomore curse, so I'm sure his third album will off the hook just like the first. Free Music Review: Mizz_dee

Lyfe is such an amazing artist. He's truly a breath of fresh air. His words and his voice sends chills up my spine and makes my eyes tear up like no other. For those of you reading these reviews...don't sleep on this album. And if you don't have his first album, you should go get it....Lyfe's music is music for the soul.
