Free Music Review: Can't get this album out of my head

I'm fairly new to Lykke Li's music. About a month ago, I wouldn't be able to tell you who she is. I decided to take a chance and get this album based on the strength of one live track, "I'm Good, I'm Gone" I'd heard Lykke do. (Acoustic and played with spoons in a bathroom, no less!) Needless to say, I was blow away by the magnitude of her talent. Listening to her album was another story. I was quite literally speechless after listening to this CD. This may just be the beginning of 2011, and this album is nearly 3 years old, so this may sound premature, but Li's album is the best CD I've heard in this year! I do not rate CDs or artists this high, especially based on one CD. Here's what you should listen to first:
1. I'm Good, I'm Gone. Li's debut single. Listen to the live acoustic versions of this song; they are simply stunning and really showcase Li's talent and creativity!
2. Breaking It Up: the backing vocals are playful, yet haunting.
3. The Trumpet In My Head: the guitar is fabulous.
4. Windows Blues: Quite possibly Lykke's best song. Simply amazing, to say the least. This one turned me into a fan of Li's.
5. Hanging High. Great chorus.
6. Let It Fall: Catchy and playful
Basically, there isn't a bad thing I can say about Lykke or her CD. I simply love whenever an artist writes their own material and takes an active role in creating their music. Both of which I can say Li was done and continues to do. She is just a joy for the indie music scene or just music in general. If you like this one, be sure to check out her follow-up, "Wounded Rhymes". You won't be disappointed.
