Free Music Notes for Wicked SensationFree Music Review: Totally Wicked Hit: 4 StarsThis is one of the first purchases I made at amazon.com back in 1999 to replace an old cassette tape I had worn out.
So many great songs on here, very melodic, bluesy hard rock with guitar driven fury througout. Lynch is of course the force behind all the songs here, but never seems overbearing, just contributes to each song to make each one shine. This is a band that should have kept it going in this direction perhaps and not strayed, it would be hard to top this debut, and they never did. They set the bar pretty high. Oni Logan's vocal delivery and style fits very nicely with Lynch's playing throughout, he's got a great rock voice...not too high and not to raspy. Overall the band is tight and well heard in the rhythmn section as well in this very well produced debut.
It is a nice companion to the Fall season for me, I always tend to get it out in late September and play it all October for such songs as "She's So Evil", "Wicked Sensation", "Hell Child"; as well as other favs like "For A Million Years", "All I Want", "River Of Love", and "No Bed Of Roses". It's very uplifting hard rock even though the artwork and some song titles may suggest otherwise. If you like your hard rock to be bluesy, catchy with great harmonies, and almost an anternative feel while still being basic hard rock in the 80's style at it's best then this is for you indeed. Somewhat similar to what Badlands was doing, but not as Led Zeppelin influenced perhaps is a nice way to describe it. It leans more toward what is now called "Hair bands" rather than anything, but it was really more of a hard rock bluesy gem that got lumped in with that crowd undeservingly.
I gave it 4 stars originally, but it would be more like 4.5 perhaps. There's maybe a couple songs on there I skip over, "Dance Of The Dogs" is one I don't like so well, and there is another song or two that sneak up on me, but when they first start I don't feel it so much...but by the end it has me...that's perhaps being too much on the nitpicky side, really it is near perfect for me but not quite.
Free Music Review: 5 Stars!!! Hit: 5 StarsI listened to Wicked Sensation today and maybe have forgotten what a Hard Rock masterpiece it is!!! If you like true and honest Hard Rock you must get it!
Free Music Review: Awesome and overlooked Hit: 5 StarsOne of my all-time favorites. Tight, well produced, awesome vocal gymnastics, shredderific. This release strengthened any weaknesses found in Dokken, which of course causes an aud-canic eruption.
Free Music Review: Solid Hit: 5 StarsSolid hard music from a premier guitar player, George Lynch, formerly of Dokken. The band is tight.
