Free Music Notes for (Pronounced 'L?h-'nérd 'Skin-'nérd)Free Music Review: Great slice of Southern rock Hit: 5 Stars
I'm not a connousieur (sp) of Southern rock. A slice is good enough for me. But once i woke up to Lynyrd Skynyrd's greatness about 15 years ago, long after their glory days, I realized their big hits really did come from a well of talent that can't be overlooked by Northern boys like me. After a while, a greatest hits collection wasnt good enough...I wanted to dip into the well with at least one album, and this is the one. It doesn't have Sweet Home Alabama, but it has three other monsters that people always think of when they think of LS: Gimme Three Steps, Simple Man, and Free Bird. And it's got the lesser stuff that make an album a real experience that takes you back to the time and place. Get this if that is what you are looking for.
Free Music Review: 1973's Debut Hit: 5 Stars
Great First Album! I've Been A Skynyrd Fan For Years Now & I Think This Is One Of Their Best. This Album Features Big Hits Like The Rockers "Gimme 3 Steps" & "I Ain't The One." It Also Features Slower Songs Like "Tuesday's Gone" & "Simple Man," A Tribute To The Mothers Of The Skynyrd Members. But The Big Highlight Here Is "Free Bird" (You'd Expect That). This Album Also Features Rarities Like The Bluesy "Mr. Banker" Taken From The "Legend" Album, The Demo Version Of "Down South Jukin'" From The "Box Set," & Unreleased Demos Of "Tuesday's Gone", "Gimme 3 Steps," & "Free Bird," In Which Guitarist Allen Collins Breaks A String In The Main Solo. If You Don't Own This Album, Definitely Buy It. Again, This Is One Of The Best! Highly Recommended!
Free Music Review: Outstanding. Hit: 5 Stars
When an album features "Tuesday's Gone," "I Ain't The One," "Simple Man," "Gimme Three Steps," and "Free Bird," how could it NOT get five stars? Add another little-known classic, "Things Goin' On," to that list, and it starts to look like a very impressive album. And it is.Skynyrd's debut album is at best fantastic and at worst great. It is almost a greatest hits album, with the impressive track list, and virtually all of the songs are classics. As an introduction to Skynyrd, this album works as well as a compilation -- you get most of the good stuff here, anyway! A true rock classic that deserves 5 stars as much as any of the all-time classic rock albums out there.
Free Music Review: Southern Rock Mastepiece Hit: 5 Stars
I'll keep it short, since I am far from an expert on Southern Rock.
All I know is that this is one classic album with so many classic tracks, it almost looks like a greatest hits package an it's their debut.
The thing that always strikes me as amazing is how heavy a song like "Simple Man" is, it is so similar to the "power ballads" that so many bands would include in the late 70's and even moreso in the early 80's. And this track is to me so much stronger and powerful than most of the ones that bands (most not southern rock at all) would churn out album after album to release after a fast paced rocker. All those 80's bands would include a song (or two).
Just one great band, and one great album.
Free Music Review: One of the Best Albums of all Time, by The Greatest Southern Rock Band on The Planet Hit: 5 Stars
This band drew attention to Southern Rock Bands by being a group of talented and dedicated musicians. They paved the way for others, but none could hold a candle to Lynard Skynerd. If your a Fan as well this is a Must Have CD to have in your collection. Many of the songs on this album Topped the Charts. Over 30years later, their music is well known by today's generation. They may not have the same appreciation as the fans that supported the Band since the begining of their journey as Super Stars, but I see a respect from teens today. The music on this Album is written from the Heart and life experience. The Lead singer preforms the songs with creative emotion, this draws the listener into the moment of the story. :)
