Free Music Review: "Street Survivors" - "Pure Skynryd Gold"!!!!! "The Ultimate Skynyrd Studio Album"
Hit: 5 Stars

The Ultimate Lynyrd Skynyrd Studio Album. This one contains the hits: "What's Your Name", "That Smell" (an excellent Ronnie Van Zant original, with a great theme), "One more Time", "I know a Little" (written by Steve Gaines!!!), "You Got that Right" (co-written by Ronnie & Steve), "I Never Dreamed" (co-written by Ronnie & Steve), "Honky Tonk Night Time Man" (a Merle Haggard song), "Ain't No Good Life" (written & sung by Steve Gaines).

Plus, you get 5 bonus songs: "Georgia Peaches" (Outstanding co-written by Steve Gaines & Ronnie Van Zant), "Sweet Little Missy", "You Got That Right" (Alternative version), "I Never Dreamed" (Alternative Version), and "Jacksonville Kid" (A story about the legendary late/great Ronnie Van Zant, based on a Merle Haggard song, and altered to describe Ronnie - Excellent!!!).

This is the last legendary album by the original Lynyrd Skynyrd Band before the October 20, 1977 plane crash. What else can I say ???

Free Music Review: last of an era
Hit: 5 Stars

Skynyrd, like so many others from the time and others who came before them, when CDs didn't yet exist and LPs ruled the world, does not sound right on a stupid CD. Now I realize that versatility, mobility, etc etc is more important these days than quality. One look inside of a circuit city or any number of other like-minded stores is all the visual evidence one needs. The way it used to be, if you wanted music to go mobile, you either bought cassettes, or recorded it on blanks. Aside from cassettes and 8-tracks, the only format in which bands like Skynyrd sound the way they were meant to sound, is vinyl. Unless you're fortunate enough to own an open reel deck. I don't care if you can play CDs in your car, don't waste your money on some stupid cd. Get the real deal. To the pig-minded idiots out there who are stupid and deaf enough to believe CDs sound better than LPs, I pity you.

Free Music Review: My Second Skynyrd Album
Hit: 5 Stars

Steet Survivors. The most intriguing of all the Skynyrd Albums. I listened to their Greatest Hits a year earlier and heard the dulcet tones of "Free Bird" and the riff-driven "That Smell." I heard that song and felt obliged to purchas ehtis album. I ventured to a nearby Cd Store to buy this cd; I checked out the track listings and saw more classics bundled within this amazing album, among them are, "What's Your Name?", "You Got that Right." I am the person who listens to an album from begining to end and seldom skip tracks. This album is great from start to finish and has a outstanding one-two punch "What's Your Name?" and "That Smell." Purchase this album along with the stellar (pronounced leh-nerd skeh-nerd) album.

Free Music Review: Lynyrd Skynyrd's Final Statement Resonates With New Authority, Thanks To Sterling Remasstering
Hit: 5 Stars

STREET SURVIVORS was the last album to feature the classic Lynyrd Skynyrd lineup. New member Steve Gaines had given the existing members a push to do better with his unique guitar style and songwriting abilities, and Ronnie Van Zant had begun to wean himself off of alcohol. The result was the band's best studio album since SECOND HELPING, with its centerpiece, "That Smell" (inspired by guitarist Gary Rossington's DUI accident), warning of the dangers of alcohol and drug use, and inspiring me to toast my grandparents with water instead of wine at their 75th anniversary dinner in 2009. Another song, "I Never Dreamed", extols the virtues of monogamy. This album is a must-own for anyone even remotely interested in rock & roll.

Free Music Review: The Best Southern Rock Album Ever!
Hit: 5 Stars

I own over 200 CDs. Most of them are Southern Rock from the 70's. This is definitely my favorite. The guitar solos are THE BEST. The lyrics are damn good. The piano solos totally jam and the rest of the band provides the solid foundation. Honkey Tonk Night Night Time Man might not be an original but this is one of the best jam sessions I've ever heard. EVER! You Got That Right tells it like it is. One More Time seems to be about that lyin' ex-girlfriend that you keep goin' back to for some luvin' when you ain't got nuthin' else. This album is a 10. Skynyrd is my favorite band of all time. Not because of Sweet Home Alabama and Freebird. It's because of songs like the ones on this album.
