Free Music Notes for The Essential Lynyrd Skynyrd [2-CD SET]Free Music Review: 2 disc essential isn't enough should have been 3!!!! Hit: 5 Starsfor all the Lynyrd Skynyrd fans who have bought THRYTY, well i have 2 words for you SELL IT!!!
this is all you need for ESSENTIAL is exactly what it's title states essential.
all the REAL SKYNYRD is in here (not to get off on a tangent, the best ones to get with Johnny Van Zant fronting the band are the Live cd when the reunited the 1st time, 91 & The Last Rebel, everything else is terrible & they really should either retire to preserve the legacy of the band or get Artimus & Ed King back in there & have it actually be Skynyrd again.)
Sorry about that.
from the opening riffs of Sweet Home Alabama to the Live version of FREEBIRD it's all here.
Now haveing said all this i will admit i am a huge Skynyrd fan but like the Grateful Dead i have to listen to them in doses, too much & my head will explode, because living in the South you can turn on the radio at anytime of day & hear all these songs at one point or another.
But if you are a true fan of Southern Rock & love the original line up not the one that is getting force fed to you than i highly recommend this set or if there is still more you are wanting, buy the individual albums up to The Last Rebel & including the 4-5 disc box set & you'll be in redneck HEAVEN!!!!
as a diehard fan i will say this has everything SHA, FB, BOCL, SM & my personal favorite Saturday Night Special.
Lastly these are the full versions, no radio edits & the whole thing has been digitally remastered for optimum Southern Rock Listening Pleasure.
BUY THIS NOW!!!!
Free Music Review: Greatest Southern rock band of all time Hit: 5 StarsLynyrd Skynyrd helped make southern rock what it is today. The all time greatest hits did not have simple man of workin for MCA. Those are really good songs. Sweet home Alabama is a pure classic. You might here it on the radio all the time but it still great to listen to. Free bird was a great long song for Lynyrd Skynyrd. It is pure art of music. I close my eyes when I listen to Simple Man. That song is very inspiring and true to man. Gimme three steps, call me the breeze, workin for Mca, and what's your name are jamming songs that make you feel good inside and joyful. Comin home is a song that you do not hear on the radio. It's so cool. There are just so many songs on here that really rock. A good price for 25 songs. I don't think Lynyrd Skynyrd was great enough to get his box set though but they are my favorite southern rock band. God bless you and have a great day.
Free Music Review: a great southern rock compilation Hit: 5 Starsthe essential lynyrd skynyrd set is the best compilation from this great southern rock band and is especially recommended to rock fans who want all their big hits like sweet home alabama, tuesday's gone, gimme three steps, was i right or wrong and the greatest rock song free bird. the guitar solo at the end of free bird is simply awesome and needs to be heard.hugely recommended along with the best of the outlaws.
Free Music Review: Timeless classics Hit: 5 StarsI've been a fan of Lynyrd Skynyrd for years but just recently began to put forth any effort to buy their CDs. There are classics everybody at some point has heard on here, such as Sweet Home Alabama, Gimme Three Steps, That Smell, and Free Bird just to name a few, along with a couple songs that might not have been big singles but no doubt are just as good. Lynyrd Skynyrd are one of the few bands that just never seem to get old, at any time you can pop one of their CDs in your stereo and love it now just as much as you did the first time you heard it. It's that staying power that is perfectly captured on this 2-CD set.
Quite possibly one of my favorite Skynyrd songs is Was I Right Or Wrong. In this song you experience the amazing song writing ability Ronnie Van Zant possesses. The verses are extremely quiet and the chorus is loud and gripping. A definite high-point on this collection. Comin' Home, a previously unreleased version, is also included. This song flows like no other, the verses are set to a background of catchy guitars and only gets better each time you hear it. Free Bird, arguably Skynyrd's best song, is featured both live and in the studio. The live version is performed flawlessly and, of course, has the infamous guitar solo being performed amazingly well. All I Can Do Is Write About It is another jaw-dropping song this CD offers. It's performed acousticly and Ronnie's voice is given new light in it.
Just a few of the many best songs on here are Was I Right Or Wrong, Comin' Home, Free Bird, Tuesday's Gone, Gimme Back My Bullets, and All I Can Do Is Write About It. Everybody, whether you admit it or not, has a soft spot for Lynyrd Skynyrd. This is the best greatest hits collection this band has out as of now, not to mention the most complete collection of songs. Pass on the other one-disc greatest hits that are out, this is without a doubt eons better than those.
Free Music Review: Very good, but, could have been better. Hit: 4 StarsI bought this CD about 4 years ago and I still listen to it.
The remastering is very good. The instruments and vocals are
very sharp and clear, sometimes these older albums can sound
a bit "muddy" after remastering. Not this one. The only reason
I can't give it Five stars is because there are a few songs
missing. Like 'Don't Ask Me No Questions' and 'On the Hunt'
to name acouple. But all of the other songs certainly belong.
My recomendation is, if I lost it or it got damaged, I would
buy it again in a heartbeat. Ted
