Free Music Review: Legendary Street Team
Hit: 4 Stars

MOP, the legendary street team have been putting it down for years, but have had little mainstream recongition, but that has only added to love they get from the streets. With Warriorz however, they seem to want to pull a more mainstream audience, the way many artists are going nowadays. But MOP still put down their usual grimy street anthems you'd expect to find on one of their albums. By no means have MOP gone soft, this is just aimed at a wider audience. And to do that, the single Cold As Ice has pulled in that audience. It samples the classic by Foreigner. The high pitched wails of the sample against MOP grimy lyrics pulls off brilliantly. There is the club banger on there Ante Up but that is really about as mainstreeam as the music gets. There is the light hearted 'Old Timerz' which is almost a memorial song to their elders. And the R'n'B influenced 'Everyday' with Product G & B bringing the hook. The rest of the album is typical grimy MOP street music. They've waited long enough, now it's MOP's turn to take the whole hip hop world by storm.

Free Music Review: Drama Lords Return
Hit: 4 Stars

Thumping and gun-busting for the 8th straight year, MOP never disappoint with this joint a single time. This has got to rank up there with the Reflection album as one of 2K1's dopest CDs. My favorite tunes are Foundation and Welcome to...

Free Music Review: Cool streetwise sounds
Hit: 5 Stars

This is a classic modern rap album. There are loads of different styles to this album, from `Ante Up' which is a huge streetwise anthem to the more commercial `Cold as Ice' (which, in this case proves that commercial tracks don't have to suck or sound like Puff Daddy). There's plenty of other great tracks like, `G-building', `Calm down', `welcome to brownsville', `power' and `operation lockdown'. This album has everything I like from a hip-hop album, dark but danceable beats, great rhymes, no annoying skits and great production. An essential album.

Free Music Review: Ain't Nothing Changed???
Hit: 5 Stars

As a big underground hip-hop head, I can really appreciate the realness these kats bring to the hip-hop game. M.O.P. is still the same cutthroat, rhyme killing, MC's who get much more props in the underground scene than anywhere in hip-hop. This CD stands above the last because of more banging tracks and productions. The two hottest joints on the CD: "Ante Up" and "Cold As Ice" are getting much deserve airplay on radio and video, but in the underground world the entire CD is a smash. Classic CD, ya gottta cop this one.

Free Music Review: First Family Ties Up A Tight One
Hit: 5 Stars

There are those who spit lyrics, and there are those who leave dancefloors soaked in waves of phlegm. Possessing an energy of blood-vessel-bursting proportions, MOP continue to lace their lyrics with enough venomous discharge to send shockwaves through even the most sturdy. Subtlety has never been their style, anthemic shrieking has, and Warriorz sees Billy Danze and Lil Fame hollering from the rooftops in trademark fashion.

Having captured Premo during a recruitment drive that also has Flip Mode's Lord Have Mercy and the Product G&B on a pleasingly minimal roll call, the message from the off is clear - 'real ... step forward, fake ... step back' pretty much sets the standard for another collection of out-and-out rowdiness where no-one is left in any doubt as to what the Mash Out Posse have to say this time round. While the flows may not wander outside street-ruling territory, the delivery of this showing of status is executed with such finesse-free ferocity that the unabashed hammering home of roost-ruling has all outsiders assembling quickly in obedience. Also noticeable is the way seemingly innocent tracks receive a rocket up the ... once Danze and Fame get their jaws in unison - no beat is safe, and no backing is too soft to cushion the rapid-fire wordplay sprayed - when it hits ya, you stay hit.

With hardcore high octane verse its speciality, Warriorz is everything you'd expect from the Mash Out Posse, with the added rewards of seeing seemingly inoffensive ditties being strung up and lashed by two of hip hop's most persevering. Banging to the point of knocking yourself out, this is definitely one of the tightest joints of the year - any tighter and the circulation would begin to stop pumping altogether. MOP know their strengths, play them to the fullest extent and come up absolutely blazing, and if this doesn't make you wanna become a warrior of the First Family camp, then nothing will.
