Free Music Notes for M?avFree Music Review: a bit uninspiring Hit: 2 StarsI had high hopes for this album listening to some online samples. But for me, listening to it for the first time, it was a big letdown. Firstly, I'll say this is of course very subjective and I'm a picky person when it comes to music. To sum up the album in one word: mechanical. The artist is clearly a superb vocalist; we know this for sure. Perfect pitch and a fine clear soprano voice. The album, however, comes off to me as wholly generic. You can almost predict when the obligatory flute is about to come in. She comes off as sounding distant, like a diva, with no intimacy. Listening to the album, the whole time the question was more like "wow, that's a really nice effects processor on her vocals." I would say if your a fan of atmospheric new age music, you will like this. But for me, I like renditions of songs fit for listening to in a pub or someone's party. And thats the problem. The atmosphere is isn't the content, friendly feeling you get with most irish bands. Instead, I get a plastic-y and generic new age feeling. Not that new age is bad, for example Enya does come off sounding original while keeping the atmosphere. Anyways, this is getting long winded, and I'll sum it up by saying if you want that in the clouds, angelic feeling, you'll like this album. But if you expect the happy-go-lucky feeling of say an Altan or similar irish folk bands, you will be disappointed. If I want to listen to something mechanical, I'll breakout my Kraftwerk album, which maybe mechanical but wholly original and inspirational but somehow sounds much more human than this album.
Free Music Review: Excellent CD Hit: 5 StarsThis is a truly superb CD. I picked it up in a store more or less at random and it turned out to be wonderful. Particularly good are tracks 8 and 11.
Free Music Review: D. Keller Hit: 5 StarsPhenomenal! This will be one of my favorites for some time to come. While you are enjoying one track you will be anxiously awaiting the start of the next one. It's truly deep sensory overload. Candy for the brain. I hope there will be many more CD's in the future.
