Free Music Review: It all Depends on Where you Start it...
Hit: 4 Stars

If you start this CD on track #4, the big hit I Try, you're going to think this is an awesome CD with only one real dud...#5, Sexomatic...But unfortunately there are tracks #1-3 which are real poor...they just have nothing going for them. WHy Didn't you Call Me is alright but behind the moderately attractive and catchy tune, it's not much to write home about...Do Something got better with a couple more listens but it's still just got Macy kinda doing her mubling thing to a song that has some lyrical value to it...Caligula is just bad.

But then you hit I Try and your view will change, because I Try is a real masterpiece. I Can't Wait to Meetchu is an awesome song...a mix between gospel and R&B, really...I first heard this song when country artist Wynona did it on her CD New Day Dawning and I still happen to like her version better, nonetheless, Macy does well with her own song. Still and The Letter are the two other best songs on the CD, and A Moment to Myself is good enough...I've Committed Murder is a fun and humourus.

The only other problem I had with this CD is that the background beats and rythms are all kinda not creative...when they're featured on teh track. The Letter comes to mind, for example. I could probably recreate a near-exact replica of each beat with the rythms on my cheap $200 keyboard. I considered giving this CD 3 stars but it's got I TRY on it, which is truly a great song and after the first three tracks this CD does pretty well.

Free Music Review: Macy's Gray
Hit: 1 Stars

This is Macy's worst album to date, as a matter of fact all of them [are bad]. Macy is using items from her old CD's, hence the name Macy's Gray. I suggest that you find someone to burn you the CD, literally. The CD is worth less than the 1 star given. Never listen to her garbage again. All of us Macy fans are dissapointed. DONT BUY THE ALBUM! IT [is bad]!!!!

Free Music Review: I Try to sound like Noosha
Hit: 4 Stars

There I was sitting in a pub in Bangkok and suddenly this song came on. I recognised the voice immediately, it was clearly Noosha Fox of the 1970s band Fox. I couldn't put a name to the song though, but it seemed somehow familiar. So I asked the waitress. She said it was 'I Try' and was sung by someone I'd never heard of, called Macy Gray.

Well I was stunned, so I went out and bought 'On How Life Is'. I liked it too. I guess Macy's voice sounds more like Noosha's in 'I Try', than in most of the other tracks, but comparisons are inevitable.

The reason I am writing this now is because the Album Fox, by Fox is soon to be released on CD (for the first time in 25 years) and I would like to recommend that Macy Gray fans should give Fox a try. At the time of writing this, Fox will be available from ... on December 3rd 2002, Label: Cherry Red, ASIN: B00006JXYY, ...

Enjoy!

Free Music Review: Macy And Her Life
Hit: 5 Stars

Macy Gray is a weird one. Her voice isn't exactly the most usual of vocal instruments, and her songs aren't the most average of sorts. Some are entirely filthy songs, like "Sex-O-Matic Venus Freak" and "Caligula", driven by dirty funk and raunchy lyrics, but then you can find a gospel track in "I Can't Wait To Meetchu". More traditional soul ballads, like her big hit "I Try" and the soulful longing of "Still" and grinding funk tracks like "Do Something" and "Why Didn't You Call Me" are peppered around the unusual, the most unsual being a track about the murder of a boyfriend's boss on "I've Committed Murder" and rejoyceful suicide note tune "The Letter". It's an unusual collection from an unusual woman, and it's great. A wonderfully fun debut record.

Free Music Review: Can't Get Enough of This One!
Hit: 5 Stars

Every time I heard Macy on the radio, I cranked it up. Kept thinking I needed to ck her out and see if she could possibly be that good for more than a couple of songs...I hate to buy a whole album for just a couple of songs...well, ya'll, let me give you a heads-up on this "Voodoo-Doll"...she's no one-hit wonder, one-album wonder or flash in the pan, this one! If you liked her enough to be here, reading this, buy this album...Now! You'll wonder why you waited so long to treat yourself to this unique & sexy mix of soul as only Macy can dish it out to you... If you know what you like and it's not the usual fare ...you ain't heard nothin' til you you hear this one....I should've bought two-this one's gonna be worn smooth before it makes it thru my lst weekend with it!..*W*O*W*!
